12. Go Pink! & UW-Whitewater’s Women’s Soccer Breast Cancer Fundraiser
On Friday, September 28, 2012 UW-Whitewater Women’s Soccer team in conjunction with Go Pink! Soccer hosted an event to
raise funds for breast cancer. Go Pink is an organization that raises money to help women in Wisconsin with breast cancer re-
lated expenses. The event included special guest, former Green Bay Packer, Antonio Freeman. Also, there was a soccer clinic
hosted by the UW-Whitewater Men’s Soccer team prior to the game. People could purchase raffle tickets and with a $10 dona-
tion participants would receive a free t-shirt. Each player on the UW-Whitewater Women’s soccer team had a sponsor who
walked out on the field with them for introductions and would receive the pink jersey their player wore after the game.
The event was a big success and far exceed my goals:
With just over 250 people in attendance
$3,000 in donations raised at the Go Pink! Event, $5,000 total raised through sales of event T-Shirts
throughout the month of October
Our kid’s clinic attracted 40 kids from the local community
For this event I was directly involved with planning, including:
Creating and posting promotional flyers [3 flyers for event]
Drafting and sending emails to encourage participation in the kid’s soccer clinic
Meeting with Qdoba representatives to encourage sponsor participation (free samples)
