3.  Allergic Asthma: Also known as extrinsic asthma, allergic asthma is
triggered by exposure to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander,
mold, or certain foods. Allergic reactions lead to airway inflammation
and constriction, resulting in asthma symptoms.
 Non-Allergic Asthma: Unlike allergic asthma, non-allergic asthma, also
known as intrinsic asthma, is triggered by factors other than allergens.
These triggers may include respiratory infections, cold air, exercise,
smoke, strong odors, or air pollution.
 Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB): Some individuals
experience asthma symptoms, such as coughing, wheezing, or shortness
of breath, during or after physical exertion. Exercise-induced
bronchoconstriction, also known as exercise-induced asthma, occurs due
to the constriction of airways during exercise.
 Occupational Asthma: Occupational asthma develops as a result of
exposure to allergens or irritants in the workplace. These may include
chemicals, dust, gases, fumes, or other respiratory sensitizers present in
certain occupational environments.

4.  Steroid-Resistant Asthma: In some cases, asthma may not respond adequately to
standard corticosteroid treatment. Steroid-resistant asthma is characterized by reduced
responsiveness to corticosteroids, making it more challenging to manage.
 Childhood-Onset Asthma: Asthma that develops in childhood, often before the age of
five, is known as childhood-onset asthma. This type of asthma may persist into
adulthood or improve over time.
 Adult-Onset Asthma: Asthma that develops for the first time in adulthood is referred to
as adult-onset asthma. It may occur due to various factors, including exposure to
allergens or irritants, respiratory infections, hormonal changes, obesity, or smoking.
 Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD): Some individuals with asthma
experience worsening of symptoms, such as nasal congestion, wheezing, or nasal polyps,
after taking aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This
condition is known as aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease.
 Severe Asthma: Severe asthma, also called refractory or difficult-to-control asthma,
refers to asthma that remains uncontrolled despite high-dose treatment with
corticosteroids and other medications. It may require specialized management and may
be associated with frequent exacerbations and impaired lung function.

especially during physical activity.
 Wheezing: High-pitched whistling sound
when breathing.
 Coughing: Persistent cough, particularly at
night or early morning.
 Chest Tightness: Feeling of pressure or
discomfort in the chest.
 Fatigue: Feeling tired due to inadequate
oxygen supply.

tests like spirometry.
 Allergy Testing: Identifying specific allergens
that trigger asthma.
 Peak Flow Monitoring: Measures how fast air
