GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible to the Chief Flight Instructor and Director of Flight Operations for the
management, execution and administration of the Central Washington University (CWU) Flight Training Program,
the electronic record keeping system, and customer feedback and reporting. Responsible for developing a broad
based set of knowledge, experience, values, attitudes and flight skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and
efficient flight training for airline trainees. Develops and delivers reports for CWU. Develop basic and advanced
aviation skills of flight instructors to acquire flight abilities applicable to FAA and all other applicable standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages student progress through the Professional Pilot Courses.
2. Adheres to the appropriate FAR Parts 61, 91, and 141 requirements while managing the curriculum and flow of
training all students.
3. Submits individual student and class tracking reports to the university.
4. Coordinates the training flow using the electronic record keeping system, and ensures the training data in the
system are consistent and current with university policies.
5. Works with cross-functional staff and the university on any training curriculum revisions including updating the
electronic record keeping system, updating manuals, and coordinating these revisions with the FAA.
6. Manages standardization of all training including students, flight instructors and standardization instructors.
7. Provide Part 141 flight instruction and advanced aviation training for students form the airline customers.
8. Completes and conducts instructor initial, recurrent, and/or proficiency flight and/or ground training as
required.
9. Develops student flight skills (basic through advanced), which results in the student obtaining their licenses
and ratings.
10. Conduct flight and FTD training, including pre-flight and post-flight briefings.
11. Adheres to the guidelines of IFT and customer contracts, agreements and/or policies while providing all flight
and ground training.
12. Completes student training grade sheets for all course activities.
13. Conducts stage checks and end-of-course checks as designated.
14. Ensures flight instructors and administrative staff adhere to applicable FAA regulations privileges and
limitations.
15. Conducts instructor on-the-job training as required to maintain and/or improve quality of training and safety.
16. Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

11. Ability to provide cross-cultural flight instruction in accordance with the IFT/CWU SOP, FAR Part 61, FAR Part
91 and FAR Part 141, and other operational documents.
12. Punctual and reliable.
13. Must be concerned with flight training and own effectiveness of completing flight instructions tasks.
14. Must maintain professional abilities, standards, certificates and ratings.
15. Must maintain recent flight experience and skills adhering to company recurrent training and checks.
16. Ability to read, write and understand the English language as defined in FAR 65.71.
17. Knowledge and skills necessary to utilize the electronic record keeping system.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s Degree and approval from CWU Provost; or Master’s Degree
2. Experience managing flight instructors and/or administrative staff.
3. Proven ability to build and maintain effective teams and complete projects on time with quality.
4. Must hold an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate-Single-Engine, Multi-Engine, and Instrument Airplane ratings.
5. Must hold an FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate-Single-Engine, Multi-Engine, Instrument Airplane ratings.
6. FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or higher.
7. Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 141.36(d) which includes:
a. 1,000 flight hours as Pilot in Command
b. 1 ½ years and 500 hours of instruction given or 750 hours of instruction given.
8. Requires experience instructing all courses of instruction in the program (private pilot through multi-engine
instrument instructor).
9. Experience as required in FAR Part 61 Subpart H.

This position requires effective management, interpersonal, communication and administration skills, and flexible
work hours during various flight courses, strict adherence to IFT safety and training standards, friendly and positive
behavior, and a clean and neat appearance. This is an exempt position that could require additional hours to
complete projects on time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Diverse environments, mild/moderate outdoor exposure to dust, pollen, Avgas and other fumes. Moderate to
