With conflicts and discoveries occurring century-by-century in the New World, nothing affected the way of living in the Americas more than the increase in slavery.

The illustration is a plan of a slave ship used during the middle passage. The middle passage was a deadly adventure to the new world. The middle passage was also the main way that slaves where imported to the Americas. The middle passage was one of the main reasons for population growth in the Americas. Etc…

This painting shows the violence lifestyle of being a slave. Women where sexually exploited and men where beaten miserably. With discipline increasing slaves began to attack back and rebel. These rebellions such as the Stono Rebellion changed way of living in the Americas dramatically.
c) The Penitential Tyrant
This is an image of painful ways that a master would endure on a slave to not escape. The faceguard with a spiked collar kept the slaves from eating and or even lying down. The mechanisms where another way of how slaves where still being treated unfairly which ties in to why they rebelled.

A museum exhibition consists of a carefully selected group of art objects that illuminates a specific artistic, cultural, or historical theme. It can explore the development of a single artist’s work (e.g. “The Prints of Albrecht Dürer”), reveal a range of artistic activity from a given time and place (e.g. “High Renaissance Artists in Rome under Pope Julius II”), or chart the depiction of a certain subject throughout history (e.g. “Images of War in the 20th Century”). Much like an academic paper, an effective exhibition makes an argument, using works of art as evidence for its thesis. Furthermore, an exhibition creates meaning through the arrangement of works of art in space. By sequencing works in a certain way, the exhibition’s organizer, or curator, structures the viewer’s understanding of the its subject.
This assignment asks you to create your own art exhibition devoted to a topic of your choosing, consisting of at least four works of art. Unlike your museum paper, this paper does require library research. Your final paper should have the following format:
I. Introductory paragraph: Introduce your reader to your exhibition’s topic. Describe its historical significance (in other words, why was this exhibition worth organizing? what can be learned from seeing it?) and state your thesis.
II. Checklist: Write at least two paragraphs for each work of art in your exhibition. In my lifetime of studying the past, I have seen certain reoccurring "themes” that help us understand the course of human events in this discipline we call history. I have also provided here the list of historical themes. The general objective of the Wiki is to summarize an aspect of history studied during the grading period THROUGH the lens of a theme found in my List of Themes. Example, if you were in Early World History and you wanted to write about Alexander the Great, you then choose to summarize the history of him through a theme, such as Power of Personality, where you might discuss his military leadership as conqueror of the world. OR you could talk about him through the theme of Pivot Points in History and talk about how he ushered in the Hellenistic Era and changed the political and cultural face of the world. With conflicts and discoveries occurring century-by-century in the New World, nothing affected the way of living in the Americas more than the increase in slavery.

The illustration is a plan of a slave ship used during the middle passage. The middle passage was a deadly adventure to the new world. The middle passage was also the main way that slaves where imported to the Americas. The middle passage was one of the main reasons for population growth in the Americas. Etc…

This painting shows the violence lifestyle of being a slave. Women where sexually exploited and men where beaten miserably. With discipline increasing slaves began to attack back and rebel. These rebellions such as the Stono Rebellion changed way of living in the Americas dramatically.
c) The Penitential Tyrant
This is an image of painful ways that a master would endure on a slave to not escape. The faceguard with a spiked collar kept the slaves from eating and or even lying down. The mechanisms where another way of how slaves where still being treated unfairly which ties in to why they rebelled.

A museum exhibition consists of a carefully selected group of art objects that illuminates a specific artistic, cultural, or historical theme. It can explore the development of a single artist’s work (e.g. “The Prints of Albrecht Dürer”), reveal a range of artistic activity from a given time and place (e.g. “High Renaissance Artists in Rome under Pope Julius II”), or chart the depiction of a certain subject throughout history (e.g. “Images of War in the 20th Century”). Much like an academic paper, an effective exhibition makes an argument, using works of art as evidence for its thesis. Furthermore, an exhibition creates meaning through the arrangement of works of art in space. By sequencing works in a certain way, the exhibition’s organizer, or curator, structures the viewer’s understanding of the its subject.
This assignment asks you to create your own art exhibition devoted to a topic of your choosing, consisting of at least four works of art. Unlike your museum paper, this paper does require library research. Your final paper should have the following format:
I. Introductory paragraph: Introduce your reader to your exhibition’s topic. Describe its historical significance (in other words, why was this exhibition worth organizing? what can be learned from seeing it?) and state your thesis.
II. Checklist: Write at least two paragraphs for each work of art in your exhibition. Each entry in your checklist should contain a short formal analysis of the work and describe how it relates to your thesis. Consider how the sequencing of works in your exhibition affects the development of your argument.
III. Conclusion: This paragraph should not simply restate your thesis. What have we learned from your exhibition? What were the consequences of the works you have chosen? How do these works point to future art historical developments?

The purpose of the 3 Wiki assignments is to familiarize you with a "new" methodology of studying history ("new" because this is my own creation). In my lifetime of studying the past, I have seen certain reoccurring "themes” that help us understand the course of human events in this discipline we call history. I have also provided here the list of historical themes. The general objective of the Wiki is to summarize an aspect of history studied during the grading period THROUGH the lens of a theme found in my List of Themes. Example, if you were in Early World History and you wanted to write about Alexander the Great, you then choose to summarize the history of him through a theme, such as Power of Personality, where you might discuss his military leadership as conqueror of the world. OR you could talk about him through the theme of Pivot Points in History and talk about how he ushered in the Hellenistic Era and changed the political and cultural face of the world. Those are examples. You will choose 3 separate themes and write about 3 separate episodes from any of the history studied in our course during the assigned grading period through the themes you choose. Look at the sample Wiki and see how they have formatted their 3 sections of the essay. For each theme you discuss, you need to quote from 1 of your required 2 sources from your textbook OR from the required 1 outside secondary scholarly source of your choosing once and ONE primary document found either in your ebook on Mindtap (2 different documents required) or from an outside source (1 required). (See further details about your sources below). Use a different primary document for each theme and history you write on. You must include a properly formatted Works Cited. These Wikis will help you learn to see history in terms of these themes. Some of these themes are quite self-explanatory and some are not. There are 20 historical themes and 3 Wiki assignments you are expected to complete in the semester - therefore there are NO REPEATS of themes in your Wiki posts. You will use a total of 9 different themes in the semester from the 3 Wiki Assignments.
For each Wiki Assignment, I want you to write a minimum 750-word entry (CONTENT ONLY - Works Cited DOES NOT count towards minimum word count) about 3 historical themes that you can extrapolate from the subjects we have studied in that grading period in which the Wiki is assigned. Her father went to prison for selling drugs when Tiffany was 5 years old. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.
At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.
The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
