2. Gandhi’s Learning Experience When He First Got to South Africa It was these early experiences in South Africa that changed the course of his life. When he first arrived he was on a train and was thrown out in the middle of the night for “daring” to travel first class. The very next day he was traveling by stagecoach and the driver refused to allow him to sit inside so he had to sit next to the driver. Then later he was asked to sit on the floor and he refused so the driver started beating him until the other passenger saved him.
3. Gandhi’s Return to India He returned to India in 1914 a new man he was now self-confident, proud, very religious, and a political leader, where as when he got to South Africa he was insecure, timid, and an unsuccessful lawyer. He also returned to India prepared with a new method of action and a long thought out program for India’s regeneration.
4. The Essence Nelson Mandela He is one of the world’s longest detained political prisoners, and was the most famous during his time in prison. He is a universal symbol of social justice. He symbolically and to some extent practically led the movement of the resistance to the apartheid.
