Why assess teachers?
Teacher quality is
positively linked
with student
learning.
It determines
whether or not the
goals of education
are being met.
It will determine
teachers validity,
accountability and
dedication at work.
It will help the
school head to
evaluate the
teachers equally,
fairly and legally.
It will help the
school head to design
trainings, LAC
session and collegial
discussions
addressing teacher’s
strategy and specific
needs.
It can provide a
chance for teachers
to reflect on their
daily practices and
improve.

REMINDERS FOR THE SCHOOL HEAD
SET GOALS

reflection

progress

Adjust your
mindset
DOCUMENTING TEACHER’S PERFORMANCE
Maintaining equity in
assessing starts with a
structured system that
ensures you assess every
teacher using the same
process. Digital forms and
templates encourage
objective reviews and reduce
evaluators’ tendency to
report subjective opinions.
Digital forms
Feedback reports
One of the most common
problems with teacher
assessment systems is that
they often don’t provide
teachers with actionable and
meaningful feedback.
Observers should give
teachers a report with notes
detailing successes as well
as specific advice on what
and how they can improve.
Portfolio
Compilation
Portfolios provide documented
evidence of teaching from a
variety of sources—not just
student ratings—and provide
context for that evidence.
It can offer a look at
development over time, helping
one see teaching as on ongoing
process of inquiry,
experimentation, and reflection.
But as school head, always
remember the word “CONFIDENTIAL”.
Rating Sheets
Of all the effort of
the teachers, they
deserve to be graded
according to their
performance objectively.
They deserve to be
rated accordingly.
Administrators should
not pet anyone. Rate
your teacher fairly and
legally.

home. With young students in particular, what best
practices can give anyone a good start?(10points)

As a teacher upholding a good position and look up to as role model outside
any single children’s home.

other people is holding, we should show respect to them. If you want your
students to be respectful towards you, then you need to show them that same
level of respect.

when everyday hurdles come up, is important for being a role model for

you’ve made a mistake. By seeing that even a teacher can be wrong and that
you can openly admit to being wrong, your pupils will learn to accept and
own up to their own mistakes.
5. Be Genuine - Letting some of your personal passions show will encourage
pupils to pursue their interests.
