2. This purpose of the photo album is to introduce the unit
Belizean Culture where you will be learning about how you
can play an important role in preserving the cultural
heritage of the many ethnic groups.
Moreover you will learn to make a brochure using
Microsoft publisher and also participate in an awareness
campaign.
Finally you will have the opportunity to showcase your
artistic and creative skills by preparing a picture collage for
an open day exhibition.

3. Belize National Social Studies Standards
SSC Standard 1- Students will understand how different ethnic groups interact with one another and
the cultural changes that have occurred over time.
SSS-5a- Students will understand how each ethnic group contribution to the economic development of
the country.
You will be expected to:
 Create posters for a campaign to build awareness (where you will make posters for your
campaign)
 Create a brochure using Microsoft publisher (where you will make brochure)
 To develop a picture collage of Belizeans doing activities to enhance the economy of country

4. It is a paper and pencil assessment for writing short answers to the

What is the relationship between culture and tradition?
What are some of the cultural traits of a particular ethnic group – language,
religion, food, art & music, etc.?

5. You will watch a video documentary of
all the ethnic groups living in our country.
(Think about the previous questions while viewing
video clip)
You will also view a poster of the major groups that is
displayed to help you decide which ethnic group you
would want to make your poster about.

6. You will first research and collect accurate information about the
ethnic group that you have chosen. Then you will choose a design and
appropriate quotes for your poster.
Next you will decide on the type of material
that will be needed to make your poster look attractive
to an audience.
Be mindful that your posters is for a campaign to build awareness about
the importance of preserving our cultural heritage and also to educate
others of their role in this process.
The above assessment will be assessed using a self and peer assessment checklist that will
be used by both the student and their peers
