9. #1: How can former Rotaractors stay connected to
Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club?

11. #1: How can former Rotaractors stay connected to
Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club?
The German Rotaract MDIO
founded a program called Rotary
Rotaract Young. At the age of 30
the Rotaractors have the
possibility to be in a list for those
interested becoming a member of
Rotary. The Rotary Clubs can ask
the DRRs for names and so Rotary
clubs interested in getting new
members and Rotaractors
interested in Rotary can get in
contact with each other.
(Germany)
12. #1: How can former Rotaractors stay connected to
Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club?
They can participate in service
projects, mentor
Rotaractors/Interactors, give
insight to Rotarians on the New
Gen committee. Or help out
with the exchange program, be
a group leader at RYLA.
Honestly, there's so much to
do. How can you not stay
involved?! (USA)
13. #1: How can former Rotaractors stay connected to
Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club?
Our Rotaract club
introduced an alumni
officer to keep ex-
members in
communication with
Rotaract club events &
fundraisers. (UK)
14. #1: How can former Rotaractors stay connected to
Rotary if they are not yet ready to join a Rotary club?
Invite them to
Rotary/Rotaract
events, projects, outings, just
don't give up even if it takes
months/years. (Australia)
15. #2: What has your experience been with your sponsor
Rotary club? Would they take you as a member?
Would you take them?
16. #2: What has your experience been with your sponsor
Rotary club? Would they take you as a member?
Would you take them?
It’s been great. Our sponsor
club always gives us a
chance to speak in their
meetings and do projects
with them. (Venezuela)
17. #2: What has your experience been with your sponsor
Rotary club? Would they take you as a member?
Would you take them?
Sadly on this topic I break
the trend. Our Rotaract
club has just lost 3
members to age but no
contact from sponsor
Rotary club. However, I've
just moved Rotaract clubs
because of location & new
sponsoring club is great
having 'stolen' 6 of our
members in 11/12! (UK)
18. #2: What has your experience been with your sponsor
Rotary club? Would they take you as a member?
Would you take them?
Our sponsor Rotary club
is always asking us to join
them even before we
turn 30 because we are
very enthusiastic about
projects. (Ghana)
19. #3: Should Rotary clubs modify the cost of Rotary
membership for former Rotaractors? Why or why not?
20. #3: Should Rotary clubs modify the cost of Rotary
membership for former Rotaractors? Why or why not?
No, former Rotaractors
shouldn't be treated
differently than any
other new member.
Rotary = commitment.
(Canada)
21. #3: Should Rotary clubs modify the cost of Rotary
membership for former Rotaractors? Why or why not?
Yes, but also, it's not all
about money. Club
culture is also
different, so it's harder to
make the leap to Rotary.
(El Salvador)
22. #3: Should Rotary clubs modify the cost of Rotary
membership for former Rotaractors? Why or why not?
I don't think there should
be a difference in fees. At
the end, it's money that
will be used for a good
cause. (Nigeria)
23. #4: What skills would you bring to a Rotary club as a
member that you developed through Rotaract?
24. #4: What skills would you bring to a Rotary club as a
member that you developed through Rotaract?
Help with social
media is definitely a
plus point. (Sri Lanka)
25. #4: What skills would you bring to a Rotary club as a
member that you developed through Rotaract?
Already knowing about
and loving Rotary, a fresh
perspective on goals and
projects, & an open mind
to learn from Rotarians :)
(Canada)
26. #4: What skills would you bring to a Rotary club as a
member that you developed through Rotaract?
The passion to confront the
issues that are pressing in
our generation. New energy
for a Rotary club.
(Philippines)

30. #5: What do you see as the similarities & differences
between an experienced Rotaractor and a young
Rotarian?
One of the major differences I find is
that Rotaract tends to have a lot more
hands on experiences in their service
projects, like going out and painting a
home, or handing out meals to
homeless persons, or reading to blind
children, whereas Rotarians tend to
have a more laidback, "write a cheque,”
"hire someone to get the job done"
approach to giving back. While both
paths are equally necessary to help, it is
one of the deterrents to Rotaractors to
joining Rotary. (Jamaica)
31. #5: What do you see as the similarities & differences
between an experienced Rotaractor and a young
Rotarian?
Rotaractors have more
knowledge of Rotary
projects and activities
than a young Rotarian.
(El Salvador)
32. #5: What do you see as the similarities & differences
between an experienced Rotaractor and a young
Rotarian?
I often find myself giving young
Rotarians in my sponsor club insight
and advice! Young Rotarians who
were promoted from Rotaract often
have more knowledge regarding RI
and how things are done . . .
Experienced Rotaractors and young
Rotarians end up in the same place:
becoming great, passionate
Rotarians. We Rotaractors just have a
little head start! (USA)
33. #5: What do you see as the similarities & differences
between an experienced Rotaractor and a young
Rotarian?
Sometimes even the
older Rotarians are just as
enthusiastic as us
Rotaractors :) (Sri Lanka)
