1) The document discusses the implications of Ascension Day for society today. It argues that rejecting God's authority and moral law through doctrines like antinomianism leads to lawlessness.
2) It claims that compromising Christianity's foundational truths and separating salvation from Jesus' lordship have eroded moral foundations and allowed sin to flourish.
3) The Ascension affirms Jesus' authority over all areas of life and calls Christians to committed discipleship and obedience to apply God's rule in every sphere.
This song is about the second coming of Jesus Christ. It warns that He will return unexpectedly, "like a thief in the night," and there will be a final judgment where people will either "rise with the Son" or be "left behind."
Some key points made in the song:
1. "A morning when the sand has all run out" refers to the end of time, when our opportunities run out and it will be too late to change or repent.
2. The "Thief in the night" that will come is Jesus returning unexpectedly at the end of the age.
3. "You can fall with the night" means be condemned and left behind when Jesus returns to judge.
This document summarizes evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ presented by Dr. Peter Hammond. It describes how skeptics like Frank Morison and Josh McDowell initially set out to disprove the resurrection but ended up converting to Christianity after thoroughly investigating the evidence. The document also discusses the heavy security measures taken by the Roman and Jewish authorities to guard Christ's tomb, making the resurrection claim more plausible. The bodily resurrection of Jesus is said to be of tremendous importance as it demonstrates his victory over death and gives hope of eternal life for believers.
This document compares Islam and Christianity by examining their core beliefs. It finds that while they share some common beliefs in God and prophets, Islam contradicts Christianity in its teachings about Jesus. The Quran portrays Jesus as a prophet rather than the Son of God, and denies his death and resurrection. In contrast, the Bible's account of Jesus and its prophecies are corroborated by miracles. Overall, the document argues that Christianity's teachings are based on truth, miracles, and love, while Islam's are founded on contradictions to the Bible and promote hatred.
A Christian Response to the Refugee CrisisPeter Hammond
This document discusses how Christians should respond to the refugee crisis from a biblical perspective. It argues that while Christians should show compassion to genuine refugees following biblical commands to help strangers, they also need to be wise and understand the times. It cautions that some see the crisis as an organized hijrah (Islamic migration) to spread Islam and conquer Europe rather than simply a humanitarian crisis. Christians are called to meet both physical and spiritual needs of refugees but do so safely and ensure aid reaches those most in need.
What About all the Hypocrites in the ChurchPeter Hammond
The document discusses how some use hypocrisy in the church as an excuse to reject Christianity. It notes that while hypocrites exist, Christianity and the Bible strongly condemn hypocrisy. It argues that one should not let the sins of others prevent accepting Jesus, who was perfectly righteous and condemned hypocrisy most of all. The existence of sickness does not prevent visiting doctors, and hypocrites may potentially hear the gospel and repent.
Biblical Faith is trust in the Sovereignty of God;
surrender to the Lordship of Christ;
obedience to the Word of God;
willingness to sacrifice for the Kingdom of God;
determination to seek first the Kingdom of God;
following in the steps of Christ;
putting Biblical duty first;
courage to overcome our fears;
boldness to obey God in spite of all opposition;
perseverance in spite of setbacks;
and discernment as to what is that good, acceptable and perfect Will of God (Romans 12:2).
Africa Christian Action was launched in 1991 to campaign against blasphemous works and promote Biblical values. Over 30 years it has organized summits and seminars focusing on issues like pornography, abortion, and secular influences in schools. The document discusses the Biblical role of "watchmen" or prophets in warning of God's judgment for sin and calling societies to repentance, citing many passages exhorting Christians to speak out against evil and promote righteousness. It emphasizes the need to reform families according to God's commands and promises blessings for obedience.
The document discusses the hard teachings of Jesus and how many took offense to His words. It contrasts Jesus' demanding words with more comfortable modern teachings that avoid confrontation. It encourages readers to choose to follow Jesus' commands rather than preferring popular or easy beliefs, and to seek God's approval over that of people.

What is the Difference Between the Different ReligionsPeter Hammond
This document discusses the differences between Christianity and other religions. It argues that Christianity is unique in its doctrines of the atonement of sins through Jesus's sacrificial death and resurrection. It notes that other religions have conflicting views on the nature of God, ethics, the goal of life, and the nature of man. The document asserts that Jesus's life, teachings, death and resurrection make Christianity uniquely based on its founder in a way that other religions are not. It concludes that Jesus alone claimed and proved himself to be the truth, the way and the life by dying for sins and rising from the dead.
1) The document discusses biblical prophecies about a one world government, religion, and economic system that will persecute Christians.
2) It describes historical figures like Nebuchadnezzar, Caesar Nero, and Muhammad who tried to impose singular rule and how Christians resisted them.
3) The key is for Christians to have their thinking and actions governed by God's word alone, rather than conforming to the world or devilish systems. Resisting the beast requires fearing God and obeying him over all.
The document argues that God's law provides the foundation for a moral, just, and prosperous society while its rejection leads to chaos. It asserts that Christians have failed to renew their minds according to biblical principles and instead have been influenced by secular humanism promoted by media and education. Returning to biblical teachings on fearing God and obeying his commandments for individuals and society is presented as the solution to social and political problems.
There is no doubt that Jesus Christ is the greatest man who ever lived according to the document. It summarizes that Jesus transformed the way we measure time, inspired countless humanitarian efforts and advances in fields like medicine over two millennia, and established foundations for modern concepts like education, science, and human rights that have profoundly shaped civilization. The positive impact of Jesus on the world through Christianity cannot be overstated.
Biblical Resistance to the New World DisorderPeter Hammond
This document discusses biblical resistance to attempts to establish a New World Order. It summarizes various historical attempts to do so, from the Tower of Babel to modern globalist movements. It provides examples from the Bible of resisting political and religious rulers who try to impose their will, such as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego resisting Nebuchadnezzar. The document warns that a one world government, religion, and economic system will be established but will ultimately be destroyed by the eternal Kingdom of God.
This document discusses missions in the Bible. It summarizes that God had a universal plan of salvation for all nations from the beginning, as seen in passages like Genesis 3:15. It shows how God called Abraham and his descendants to bless all nations. God established Israel as a holy nation of priests to bring God's word to the world. The Old Testament prophets spoke of a kingdom and ruler that would reign over all nations. Jesus fulfilled these prophecies and commissioned his followers to continue spreading the gospel to all nations, as seen happening in the book of Acts.
King Alfred the Great, John Wycliffe, Jan Hus, Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, William Tyndale, John Calvin, John Knox, William Carey, William Wilberforce, and other Christian reformers changed the world through their courageous stands for biblical truth and Christian liberty. They translated the Bible into common languages, confronted corruption in the church, and inspired movements that promoted education, justice, and the spread of the gospel. Though some faced persecution and death, their examples of faith and leadership transformed nations, governments, and societies worldwide.
This document contains a 10-point summary of biblical principles regarding freedom and government by Dr. Peter Hammond. The key points are:
1) True biblical freedom means the liberty to obey God and do his will, not indulge in sinful behavior.
2) Freedom involves serving others in love rather than pursuing one's own interests.
3) Beware of those who promise freedom but are enslaved themselves to sinful desires.
4) True freedom can only be found by obeying Jesus as Lord.
Understanding Islam and Evangelising MuslimsPeter Hammond
The document discusses what Christian reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards taught about Islam. They viewed Islam as a form of antichrist that denied the Fatherhood of God and the deity of Christ. They saw prophecies in the Bible referring to the expansion of Islam in places like the Middle East. While they opposed Islam's doctrines, they still sought to spread Christianity throughout the world, including to Muslims, through prayer and the preaching of the gospel. The document provides guidelines for respectfully sharing the Christian message with Muslims and emphasizes focusing on Jesus' fulfillment of God's promises to Abraham as a key aspect of the gospel.
What About All The Hypocrites In The Church?Peter Hammond
The document discusses hypocrisy in the church and argues that it is not a valid reason to reject Christianity. While there are hypocrites among Christians, the Bible strongly condemns hypocrisy and Jesus was the ultimate example of sincerity. The church is not meant to be perfect, but rather a fellowship of sinners dependent on God's mercy. Hypocrisy exists in many institutions but that does not negate their overall purpose. One should not let hypocrites prevent finding truth in Christ.
Will we be Able to Fulfill the Great Commission in our Generation?Peter Hammond
This document discusses the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ to his followers to make disciples of all nations. It argues that the task seems impossible but that Jesus promised power and presence to fulfill it. It provides examples of pioneering missionaries from the 19th century who were willing to make great sacrifices and face opposition and danger out of their belief that God would ensure ultimate victory in completing the Great Commission. The document aims to inspire readers to have the same optimistic faith and commitment to fulfilling Christ's command to spread the gospel worldwide.
1) Paul in Athens reasoned with Jews and Gentiles about their idol worship despite his anger over their blatant idolatry.
2) A plague struck Athens around 600 BC, killing thousands despite sacrifices to their gods. An oracle concluded an unknown god was responsible and lifted the plague after a sacrifice.
3) Taking his cue from the altar to the unknown god, Paul proclaimed this was the God who saved Athens and now commands all men to repent.
This document discusses several reasons why all people should be evangelized, regardless of their background or location. It argues that:
1) The Bible is true and the gospel has the power to save all who believe.
2) All of mankind is lost and in need of salvation due to the universal sinful nature of humanity.
3) Death and judgement are inevitable, and hell is a real consequence for those who do not believe.
4) There is only one God, he loves the entire world, and the whole world belongs to him - not just certain groups. Therefore, the gospel message should be spread to all people everywhere.
Ascension Day and it's Importance for TodayPeter Hammond
1) The document discusses the importance of Ascension Day and how it points to Jesus' authority over all things. It argues that separating salvation from Jesus' lordship has led to societal problems like corruption, crime, and immorality.
2) Ascension Day celebrates Jesus' victory over sin and death and his exaltation at God's right hand, reminding believers that Jesus has authority over every area of life and will return to judge the living and the dead.
3) The document calls Christians to go beyond celebrating Jesus' birth and resurrection, and to apply the implications of his lordship to every aspect of life by surrendering fully to him as Savior and Lord.
Martin Luther found himself hauled before the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1521 and presented with a choice to recant his teachings or be cast out as a heretic. Luther declared "Here I stand, I can do no other" and refused to recant, standing firm on the word of God. The Protestant Reformation transformed Christianity and had wide-reaching impacts on society, all because Luther had the conviction and courage to take a stand for his religious beliefs.
This document summarizes the testimony of several famous skeptics and critics of Christianity about Jesus Christ. Despite rejecting Christianity themselves, these individuals - including philosophers, historians, scientists, and journalists - acknowledged that Jesus was the greatest person in history. They recognized Christianity's immense positive impact on civilization and morality. The document concludes that while religious and political authorities condemned Jesus during his life, the unanimous verdict of these skeptical witnesses is that no one has influenced the world for good more than Jesus Christ.
The Eschatology of Victory in the Greatest Century of MissionsPeter Hammond
This document discusses the Protestant missionary movement of the 19th century. It describes how Protestant Christianity expanded from being concentrated in Europe and North America to becoming a worldwide religion by the end of the 1800s. The missionary movement was unprecedented in scale, reducing languages to writing, pioneering schools, introducing modern medicine, and ending many social evils. This expansion was driven by an eschatological belief in the coming universal reign of Christ over all nations, inspired by figures like John Calvin and William Carey who helped launch the modern missionary movement through voluntary societies that mobilized resources on a massive scale.

It recommends disconnecting from media indoctrination and defilement, supporting alternative Christian media and education, and rebuilding all areas of life based on biblical principles. Central to resistance is prayer, studying Scripture together, and traditional families raising children in the faith to counter the anti-Christian agenda and leave a godly legacy for future generations.
Rejecting the Influence of Secular HumanismPeter Hammond
This document discusses the influence of worldviews and the need to reject secular humanism. It argues that everyone is influenced by a worldview that shapes their values and guides their life. The Bible presents a worldview that answers fundamental questions of life and reality. In contrast, humanist worldviews like rationalism, empiricism, and materialism reject biblical revelation. It's important to evaluate people's underlying beliefs and the practical implications of their worldview to avoid being deceived.
The document discusses the importance of Christian holidays and commemorating biblical events through the calendar year. It argues that societies' choice of holidays reveals their underlying worldview and values. It notes South Africa replaced Christian holidays like Ascension Day with secular ones celebrating mankind instead of God. The document then summarizes the significance of major Christian holidays like Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, and Ascension Day which celebrate Jesus' birth, death, resurrection, and ascension. It encourages Christians to observe these holidays and associated biblical events rather than secular alternatives.

This document discusses the significance and benefits of Jesus' crucifixion on the cross. It explains that through the cross, God provided a way for sins to be forgiven so that people can be brought back into a right relationship with Him. The cross also deals with problems like guilt, anxiety, and provides for people. Jesus' death on the cross releases God's healing power and rescues people from death by giving eternal life. It allows believers to overcome the world and the devil. The cross is at the core of the good news that offers hope for humanity.
CHRISTIAN SUPERNATURAL TEACHINGS, BIBLE CLASS LESSONS, GOSPELS BY LEADER OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU, THE SUPERNATURAL TEACHER AND SOLE SPIRITUAL HEAD, BROTHERHOOD OF THE CROSS AND STAR
The document discusses the need to study the books of Daniel and Revelation more closely as we near the end of time. It emphasizes keeping attention focused on God and His law rather than human beings. It notes how God worked throughout history to humble human pride. The second part discusses various biblical passages about election, calling, and salvation through accepting Christ's righteousness. It stresses that true election is dependent upon continual faith and obedience to God's word. Overall the document examines theological concepts around judgment, salvation, and preparing for Christ's return.

Jesus was the condemnation eliminator vol. 2GLENN PEASE
- There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, according to Romans 8:1. This verse declares that believers are eternally secure because of what Christ accomplished through his death and resurrection.
- To be "in Christ Jesus" means to be united with Christ through faith. It is a vital spiritual union where believers' sins are atoned for, they are justified, and they now possess Christ's righteousness. All condemnation is removed for those who are united to Christ by faith.
- Eternal security and freedom from condemnation is a gift of God's grace to believers. It is based solely on Christ's work, not any work or merit of their own. God justifies believers and they can never
This is a study of Jesus being the head of every man. God was the head of Jesus, man was the head of women, and Jesus was the head of man. It is all about headship and order.
Jesus died for several reasons according to Ellen White:
1) To purify humanity from sin and restore our relationship with God.
2) To redeem humanity and restore us to oneness with God after the fall separated us.
3) To bring humanity back into loyalty to God and obedience to His commandments.
4) To provide sufficient grace and power for humanity to overcome our natural sinful tendencies.
This document discusses the righteousness of Jesus Christ. It argues that Jesus fulfilled both the requirements of pardon from sin through his death and the requirements of perfect obedience to the law through his life. As such, believers can be seen as righteous not based on their own works but through the imputed righteousness of Jesus. Jesus is referred to as "Jehovah our Righteousness," meaning he is God and the source of righteousness for believers. The document emphasizes that only through Jesus' life and death can believers be made righteous before God and be accepted into heaven.
This document summarizes the threats facing Christian civilization and calls Christians to take a bold stand on biblical authority. It discusses issues like the attacks on children, marriage, and gender, as well as threats like COVID lockdowns violating freedoms and Marxist ideologies dividing society. It urges Christians to understand the times and make their conscience captive to God's word, standing up for biblical truths despite persecution, as Luther did at the Diet of Worms. Facing trials, Christians should seek God's kingdom and contend for the faith.
This document discusses persecution of Christians throughout history and the biblical basis for persecution. It notes that currently over 200,000 Christians are killed annually for their faith. The Bible was written by persecuted believers for other persecuted believers. Figures like Peter and Dietrich Bonhoeffer emphasized that true faith involves obedience, even in the face of suffering. While God created people with dignity and rights, the fall of man and rise of sin disrupted this. Ultimately, God's goal is to populate the universe with those who resemble Jesus Christ through trials that develop strong character.
The document discusses the power and significance of Jesus' death on the cross. It explains that the cross is central to Christianity and that through His suffering and death, Jesus overcame the six woes or sorrows that have afflicted mankind since the Fall - guilt, Satan's dominion, pain/suffering, anxiety, death, and separation from God. It emphasizes that we must receive the power of the cross in our own lives by taking up our cross daily and following Jesus.
This document is a summary of the key differences between Christianity and other religions according to Dr. Peter Hammond. It outlines that while other religions teach that all religions are the same, Christianity teaches that Jesus is the only way to God. It provides examples of incompatible teachings around ethics, the goal of life versus nirvana, and the centrality of idolatry in most religions. It emphasizes the unique doctrines of Christianity around the holiness of God, the seriousness of sin, and the once-for-all atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as the only way for salvation.
Jesus was saying everyone is pressing to enter the kingdomGLENN PEASE
This is a study of Jesus saying everyone is pressing to enter the kingdom. It is a difficult verse to interpret, and all of the efforts seem valid, but some seem more likely.
This document argues that God's law provides the foundation for a moral, just, and prosperous society. It asserts that many Christians have rejected God's law and biblical principles of governance. As a result, societies are experiencing increasing corruption, crime, and chaos. The document claims the only solution is for individuals, churches, and nations to renew their commitment to fearing God and obeying his commands as revealed in the Bible.

The Wesley brothers, John and Charles, were central figures of the 18th century Evangelical Revival in Britain. They grew up during the Industrial Revolution, a time of rapid social and economic change. Both brothers experienced spiritual crises and conversions that led them to preach the doctrine of justification by faith alone, sparking widespread evangelism across Britain and literally transforming society.
Girolamo Savonarola - The Reformer of FlorencePeter Hammond
Savonarola was born in 1452 in Ferrara, Italy to a noble family. He studied philosophy, logic, and medicine before becoming a monk in 1475 and joining the Dominicans. He was sent to Florence where he began fearlessly preaching against the corruption and immorality he saw in the Catholic Church and Florentine society. Savonarola gained a large following and confronted the ruling Medici family. When the Medici's power waned, Savonarola became ruler of Florence for three years and instituted moral reforms. However, he made enemies, including Pope Alexander VI, who had Savonarola excommunicated, imprisoned, and tortured. Remaining steadfast in his beliefs,
Jan Hus was a 15th century Bohemian priest who preached reformist views that challenged the Catholic Church's corruption and abuse of power. Inspired by John Wycliffe's teachings, Hus denounced the sale of indulgences and sins of clergy. He was excommunicated, summoned to a church council, and despite an imperial guarantee of safe passage, was imprisoned and burned at the stake for heresy. Hus' martyrdom helped spread reformist resistance against Rome's authority and led to military conflicts between Hussite followers and the Holy Roman Empire.
Anne of Bohemia was the eldest daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor and a friend of the Protestant Reformation. She loved studying the Bible and protected John Wycliffe from persecution. Anne encouraged Bohemian students to study under Wycliffe and helped spread Reformation teachings throughout Europe. Her marriage to King Richard II of England was said to be happy. However, Anne tragically died of plague at age 27, deeply mourning by the people of England. Her influence helped spread Reformation ideas to Bohemia and beyond.
The Waldesians Firm and Faithful Alpine Fighters for the FaithPeter Hammond
Peter Waldo was a wealthy merchant in Lyons, France who gave away all his possessions after a friend's death led him to seriously consider his soul. He had priests translate the Gospels into French and was convicted by what he read. Waldo and his followers, called the Waldensians, sought to live in voluntary poverty and preach the Gospel, which brought persecution from the Catholic Church. Despite centuries of persecution, the Waldensians survived and helped inspire reformers like Jan Hus, spreading the Gospel across Europe through traveling preachers.
Countering Halloween Witchcraft with Biblical ReformationPeter Hammond
This document discusses Halloween and argues that it has origins in pagan rituals rather than Christianity. It describes Halloween traditions like costumes, jack-o-lanterns, and trick-or-treating as having roots in Celtic harvest festivals and Druid practices involving human and animal sacrifices to appease spirits. The document recommends that Christians celebrate Reformation Day instead of Halloween and warns that Halloween promotes occult beliefs and can introduce people to witchcraft. It provides many Bible verses condemning pagan practices and encouraging Christians to stand against evil.
William Wilberforce and the Campaign to End SlaveryPeter Hammond
This document provides background on William Wilberforce and his lifelong crusade to abolish the slave trade in Britain. It details how Wilberforce was inspired by his Christian faith to take on this cause, despite facing overwhelming opposition. After years of persistent effort, public awareness campaigns, and legal battles, Wilberforce succeeded in getting Parliament to pass acts abolishing the slave trade in 1807 and emancipating all slaves in the British Empire by 1833, just before his death. The document emphasizes Wilberforce's moral leadership and the role of his evangelical Christian faith in fueling his determination to achieve these landmark reforms.
Queen Elizabeth I and the Spanish ArmadaPeter Hammond
Queen Elizabeth I was England's greatest queen who successfully established Protestantism and led England during a golden age. Under her 45-year reign, England defeated the Spanish Armada, establishing itself as a naval power. Shakespeare and other artists flourished during her Protestant rule, which contrasted with the Catholic persecutions under her half-sister Queen Mary I. The Spanish Armada posed an immense threat in 1588 as it sought to invade England, but the Royal Navy led by Hawkins and Drake used superior cannons to defeat the larger Spanish fleet in a decisive victory.
A Christian Perspective on the War in UkrainePeter Hammond
This document provides a Christian perspective on the war in Ukraine from Dr. Peter Hammond. It makes several key points in 3 or fewer sentences:
The war pits millions of Christians against each other and has caused much suffering. Ukraine has a history of oppression under communism, particularly Stalin's regime which caused millions of deaths. Attempts to expand NATO and draw Ukraine away from Russia's sphere of influence helped precipitate the conflict despite warnings from Russia.
Hudson Taylor was a British Protestant Christian missionary to China in the 19th century. He founded the China Inland Mission, now known as OMF International, which became a large missionary organization that focused on evangelizing interior regions of China. Some key aspects:
- Taylor was called to be a missionary to China from a young age and prepared extensively through language study, theology study, and living frugally.
- He adopted Chinese dress and customs to better connect with Chinese people and viewed this as important for an indigenous church. This was controversial among other missionaries.
- Taylor started the China Inland Mission in 1865 with the goal of sending missionaries deep into China without salaries and relying on faith for provisions.
This document discusses the challenge of finding suitable missionary volunteers. It notes that while opportunities for missionary work are vast, there are not enough volunteers to fill positions on the mission field. It attributes this shortage to modern secular culture that discourages long-term commitment and sacrifice. The document then outlines the qualities needed for effective missionary work, including diligent Bible study, strong Christian character, integrity, a positive attitude, and a willingness to endure hardship and criticism. It provides examples from missionary pioneers who exhibited these qualities and were willing to sacrifice all for the cause of missions.
The document discusses how the 19th century was the greatest century of Christian missions and expansion. It summarizes that in 1801, Christianity was concentrated in Europe and North America, with Asia and Africa largely unevangelized. However, by 1900 Christianity had spread to become a worldwide religion. It attributes this to the pioneering missionaries of the 19th century who overcame immense hardships and obstacles to spread the gospel despite limited resources. The document urges Christians to learn from these missionaries' effective strategies and sacrifices if the 21st century is to see similar growth.
This document provides 17 reasons for why the evangelization of non-Christians (the heathen) is important. It argues that all people are lost and in need of salvation due to humanity's sinful nature. It cites biblical passages stating that Jesus is the only way to salvation and that he commands followers to spread the gospel message to all nations. The document emphasizes that God loves all people and that the whole world belongs to him. It concludes by stating that the Lord is worthy of all praise, worship, and honor.
Samuel Zwemer and the Mission to MuslimsPeter Hammond
Samuel Zwemer (1867-1951) was a Dutch-American missionary who dedicated his life to bringing Christianity to Muslims. He grew up in a missionary family and felt called from a young age to take the gospel to followers of Islam. After facing rejection from missionary boards, he co-founded the American-Arabian Mission. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively in the Middle East, wrote prolifically advocating for missions to Muslims, and trained future missionaries. Though he saw few Muslim converts himself, Zwemer laid important groundwork for later missionary efforts and helped mobilize Christians worldwide to reach Muslims with the gospel.
William Tyndale & The Battle for The BiblePeter Hammond
1) William Tyndale was burned at the stake in 1536 for translating the Bible into English from the original Greek and Hebrew.
2) Two other Protestant bishops, Hugh Latimer and Nicolas Ridley, were burned at the stake in 1555 at Balliol College, Oxford for their Protestant faith, along with Archbishop Thomas Cranmer four months later.
3) Their martyrdom served to inspire further calls for Bible translation into English and the Protestant Reformation in England, though over 450 years later their sacrifices are often forgotten.
1666 and the Occultic Roots of the New World DisorderPeter Hammond
This document summarizes the occult roots and teachings of Sabbatai Zevi, a 17th century Jewish rabbi who declared himself the messiah. Some key points:
1) Zevi taught that salvation comes through sin and redemption is achieved through deception and breaking religious laws. He encouraged sexual immorality and breaking dietary laws.
2) Zevi's teachings, known as Sabbateanism, spread rapidly among Jews but he was rejected by many rabbis. When threatened with death by the Sultan, he converted to Islam.
3) Sabbatean followers believed conversion was part of Zevi's messianic mission and continued secret Sabbatean practices after
George Whitefield - Calvinist, Evangelist and RevivalistPeter Hammond
George Whitefield (1714-1770) was an influential English Anglican priest and leader in the 18th century Protestant evangelical movement known as the Great Awakening. He was renowned as an eloquent preacher who drew immense crowds across Britain and America through his passionate open-air sermons. Whitefield helped spark revivals of Christianity in both countries and established orphanages and schools. Though he had theological differences with John Wesley, the two were ultimately reconciled and helped spread evangelical Christianity. Whitefield preached an extraordinary number of sermons in his lifetime and traveled extensively despite poor health, establishing himself as one of the most important religious figures of his era.
The document discusses the importance and power of prayer in the church and for Christians. It notes that prayer meetings used to be a central part of church life but have declined in many Western churches today. When the author was first converted, their local church had vibrant weekly prayer meetings, men's meetings, and outreach events, but these were suspended due to conflicts with television viewing. The document advocates that prayer, studying the Bible, and evangelism should be core priorities and activities for all Christians and churches. It provides many examples from the Bible of the emphasis on prayer and how prayer strengthened the early church.
Oliver Cromwell the Protector and the English Civil WarPeter Hammond
Oliver Cromwell was a dedicated Puritan and military leader who played a pivotal role in the English Civil War and overthrow of the monarchy. As a member of Parliament, he helped dismantle the King's oppressive powers and supported religious freedom. Cromwell went on to select and train a highly disciplined New Model Army that proved victorious against Royalist forces. However, he opposed Presbyterian attempts to impose religious uniformity, believing in liberty of conscience. This led to further conflict and ultimately the trial and execution of King Charles I in 1649, with Cromwell establishing himself as Lord Protector afterwards.
The document provides an overview of the Book of Acts, describing it as an account of the origin and expansion of the early Christian church. It summarizes that Acts shows Christianity conquering pagan cultures through the power of the Holy Spirit, acting as a missionary manual. Key events and figures in the spread of Christianity are highlighted, obstacles to communicating the gospel cross-culturally are examined, and the church's strategies for successful missionary work are outlined.

An import error occurs when a program fails to import a module or library, disrupting its execution. In languages like Python, this issue arises when the specified module cannot be found or accessed, hindering the program's functionality. Resolving import errors is crucial for maintaining smooth software operation and uninterrupted development processes.
3. Recently, I was asked by a Christian leader:
"Why is there so much corruption, crime and violence in our
society? Why is there so much immorality, even in the church?
4. Why are we seeing so many moral failures and scandals
amongst leaders in business, in every level of government
and even in the church?"
5. My answer is that these are the inevitable consequences
of the spirit of our age:
6. Antinomianism, the rejection of God's moral Law,
inevitably leads to lawlessness,
where every man does what is right in his own eyes.
7. Egalitarianism, the rejection of authority and lack of respect for
elders, produces a self-centred and selfish society.
8. Evolutionism and its denial of the Creator,
and therefore of accountability to Almighty God on Judgement
Day, erodes the very foundations of Christian civilisation.
9. Foundational truths have been ignored and vital pillars
of Christian civilisation have been eroded.
10. What we are seeing today are the inevitable out-workings
of false doctrines being introduced, tolerated, accepted,
and in many cases, even celebrated.
11. One of the great problems of our age is the separating of
Salvation from the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It is the Lord Jesus
Christ alone who can save us. We cannot accept Jesus as
Saviour without submitting to Him as Lord.
12. Those who preach a cheap grace and an easy believism,
betray an inadequate understanding of the problem of sin,
the nature of God, Christ's Mission on earth and our purpose
and calling as Christians.
13. It would not have been
sufficient for Moses to
have proclaimed to the
Hebrews, who were
slaves, that they should
accept that in Yahweh
they had perfect
freedom, whilst leaving
them
in bondage and under
the whip of slavery in
Egypt!
14. Anything less than deliverance from Egypt
and freedom from the bondage of slavery,
would have been inadequate.
15. God's eternal purposes required the people of Israel to survive the
Passover, leave Egypt, cross through the Red Sea and be
established as a free people in the Promised Land.
16. Sin is serious.
We are all far too tolerant
of sin.
Yet, sin is more defiling
than dirt,
more dangerous than
an unexploded bomb.
Even more
life threatening than a
deadly disease and more
insidious than a virus.
17. "Seek the Lord
while He may be found,
call upon Him
while He is near.
Let the wicked
forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man
his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord
and He will have mercy
on him;
and to our God,
for He will
abundantly pardon.
18. 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways', says the Lord.
'For as the Heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts'."
Isaiah 55:6-9
20. We can recognise the out-workings of the classic tactics of
"corrupt and conquer" and "confuse, divide and conquer."
21. All too many have been deceived,
distracted, divided and disarmed.
22. There are those who are openly advocating
the destruction of Christian civilisation.
23. Yet, in the face of these disastrous developments,
the response of all too many Christian leaders has been
compromise and cowardice!
24. Where the Battle Rages There Your
Loyalty is Proved
Dr. Martin Luther declared: "If I profess with the loudest voice, and
clearest exposition, every portion of the Truth of God, except precisely
that point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking,
then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him.
25. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved;
and to be steady on all the battlefront besides is mere flight
and disgrace if he flinches at that point."
26. Ascension Day points us to the solution to all these problems.
Ascension Day deals with Authority.
"Christ has gone into Heaven and is at the right hand of God,
angels and authorities and powers having been made
subject to Him." 1 Peter 3:22
27. The trouble is that today, most Christians just want to stop with
Christmas. Christmas celebrates the greatest Gift of all
- the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
28. The Incarnation of Christ, when God took on human form and
was born in Bethlehem, is very important, but many would prefer
to think of Christ as the Babe in a manger, rather than as the
Risen, Ascended, Sovereign Lord reigning on High.
29. Yet the classic Christmas
verse declares:
"For unto us a Child is
born, unto us a Son is
given;
and the Government
will be upon His
shoulder.
And His Name will be
called Wonderful
Counsellor, Mighty
God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of
Peace. Of the increase
of His Government
and peace there will
be no end."
Isaiah 9:6-7
30. Many like the idea of "a Child is born",
but they would like to stop there and edit out
"the Government will be upon His shoulder… Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His
Government and peace there will be no end.
31. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."
That is too intimidating. Too threatening. Too intrusive.
It has implications for every area of life. We like a God of love
and mercy who answers our prayers, and provides all our needs.
32. However, we are not too comfortable with a Holy God
who sees everything, even the thoughts of our hearts,
and who is the Eternal Judge we must give an account to.
33. We live in a society where God's Government is de-capitalised
and man's civil government is capitalised!
Many people who will put a small "g" for Gospel,
will put a capital "G" for their civil government !
34. When we refer to "the Government."
we should only be referring to God, who is the One who
determines whether we live, and when we die.
35. He is the One
who governs the universe
and determines the seasons.
God alone is all-knowing,
everywhere present
and all powerful.
36. All human authority is limited, it is delegated by God and is
answerable to Almighty God.
37. We will all have to bow before Christ and give an account of our
lives, and of every word ever spoken, on that last, dreadful Day of
Judgement.
38. Each one of us have an appointment. "It is appointed for men to
die once, but after this the Judgement." Hebrews 9:27
39. The second most
important holiday in
the Christian calendar
is Good Friday -
when we solemnly
remember the
Atonement of our
Lord Jesus Christ, His
great sacrifice on the
Cross of Calvary.
40. He suffered, bled and died for our sins.
He endured the punishment we deserve - so that we could enjoy
the reward that only He deserves.
41. This should inspire us afresh to repentance, thanksgiving, and
consecration. In view of God's mercies, we should "present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God…" Romans 12:1
42. However, many Christians stop there. They worship Jesus as the
suffering Saviour. Roman Catholics have crucifixes depicting
Christ suffering on the Cross.
Protestants have tended to reject crucifixes.
43. To us Christ is no longer suffering on the Cross.
We have a simple, plain, rugged Cross, because Christ is
no longer on the Cross. He is the Risen, Ascended, victorious,
King of kings and Lord of lords, reigning on High.
44. The third great Christian holiday event is
Resurrection Sunday.
This is a joyous celebration of the victory of Christ
over death, hell and the grave.
45. Christ Jesus is Risen
from the dead!
He is alive forevermore!
Death is defeated.
Jesus is
the Resurrection
and the Life.
46. Our Lord and Saviour has been "Declared to be the Son of God
with power according to the Spirit of Holiness, by the
Resurrection from the dead." Romans 1:4
47. All the founders of religions are dead. You can visit the graves of
Muhammad, Buddha, Confucius, Marx and Lenin.
48. . But in Jerusalem there is an empty tomb. "He is not here; He is
Risen!" Luke 24:6. "…raised for our justification." Romans 4:25
49. It is absolutely vital that we include Ascension Day and
Pentecost Sunday also into our Christian calendar.
50. This is what is all too often missing.
40 Days after Resurrection Sunday,
we celebrate the Ascension of Christ into Heaven.
He is alive forevermore and He is exalted
and enthroned at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
51. He is above every other name and authority
in Heaven and on earth.
Jesus Christ is the King of kings and
the Lord of lords.
We have an Advocate in Heaven.
52. He hears our prayers.
He will crush all His enemies. He will come again.
Therefore we must go and make disciples of all nations.
53. It is most significant that some governments have seen fit to
abolish the long-established Ascension Day as a public holiday.
54. Ascension Day deals with authority.
"All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you…"
Matthew 28:18-20
55. The Ascension
proclaims the
Lordship of Christ
in all areas of life.
Jesus has all
authority. Jesus
Christ is Lord over
the world of
business, sports,
entertainment and
government.
56. Jesus Christ is Lord over the schools, shops, cinemas, factories,
hospitals, law courts and parliament.
There is no area of life that is outside of His authority.
57. Every doctor, teacher, policeman, businessman, parliamentarian,
factory worker, farmer, mother, father, magistrate and supreme
court judge will have to individually stand before Almighty God on
the Day of Judgment and give an account of our lives.
58.
59. The Ascension celebrates the vindication and victory of Christ.
No doubt the high priest, Caiaphas, king Herod
and the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate,
thought that they were very important and powerful people.
60. Yet these religious and political leaders are only remembered
today because they arrogantly dismissed, and unjustly
condemned, Christ Jesus.
61. They did not recognise that they were condemning to death the
Creator, the Giver of life, the Eternal Judge, before Whom each
one of them must stand. "You have ascended on high, You
have led captivity captive…" Psalm 68:18
62. The emperor Augustus, who issued the decree that a census
should be taken of the entire Roman world, requiring everyone to
return to their town of birth, could not have realised at that time
that the Baby born to third class subjects in faraway Judea would
one day Judge him.
63. "The Lord said to My Lord, 'Sit at My right hand till I make
Your enemies Your footstool'." Psalm 110:1.
65. Those that refused to bow to Christ as Saviour and Lord today,
in the day of Grace, when forgiveness is freely available,
66. will one day be forced to bow to Christ
as the Eternal Judge
- when the day of Grace will be ended,
when they will be condemned to hell forever.
67. "He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall
judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead
bodies. He shall execute the heads of many countries."
Psalm 110:5-6
68. The question is not: Will you bow to Christ?
But When will you bow to Christ?
Will you bow to Christ as Saviour and Lord today, or will you only
bow to Christ as your Judge on the Day of Judgment?
69. "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him
the Name which is above every name, that at that Name of
Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven,
70. and of those on earth,
and of those under
the earth,
and that every tongue
should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the Glory of God
the Father."
Philippians 2:9-11
71. There is no authority above that of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Every knee will bow before Him. Compared to Christ the kings
and presidents of this world are as nothing.
72. Every knee will bow
and every tongue
will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the Glory of God
the Father.
This includes
king Herod,
Caiaphas
and Pontius Pilate.
73. This includes Caesar Augustus and Nero.
This includes Muhammad, Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin.
74. On several occasions while witnessing to Muslims, I have heard
Muslims declare: "I believe as Muhammad believes!"
At this I normally reply: "Then you must become a Christian."
76. "No, he did not then. But he does believe now!" I reply.
77. The Ascension is a great comfort to believers
who suffer persecution.
78. "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has
passed through the Heavens, Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.
79. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with
our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are,
yet without sin.
80. Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of Grace that we
may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:14-16
81. We have an Advocate in Heaven.
He hears our prayers.
He ever lives to make intercession for us.
He will come again. He will crush all His enemies.
82. Therefore we should not fear governments,
popes or councils.
We must not bow before idols,
83. nor may we compromise
the essential principles of our Faith.
84. Though Christ is physically absent from the earth, yet,
through His Holy Spirit, He is spiritually present.
He is all-knowing, everywhere-present and all-powerful.
"For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet."
1 Corinthians 15:25
85. The Vision of Daniel
"But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets… This great image,
whose splendour was excellent, stood… a Stone was cut out without
hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay,
and broke them in pieces…
86. And the Stone that struck
the image became
a great mountain
and filled the whole earth…
And in the days of these kings the
God of Heaven will set up a
Kingdom which shall never be
destroyed;
87. and the Kingdom shall not be
left to other people;
it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms,
and it shall stand forever."
Daniel 2:28-44
88. The Lord Jesus Christ
declared:
"The Stone which the
builders rejected has
become the chief
Cornerstone. Whoever falls
on that Stone will be broken;
but on whomever it falls, it
will grind him to powder.“
Luke 20:17-18
90. Lubyanka building with statue of Felix Dzerzhinsky – KGB
headquarters
In Lubyanka Square, a huge statue of Felix Dzerzhinsky,
the founder of the Cheka, which later became the KGB,
was erected in 1958.
The Statue and the Stone
91. This statue was directly in front of the Lubyanka, the notorious
Headquarters of the KGB, wherein many Christians were interrogated,
tortured and murdered.
96. which had been the first prototype Concentration Camp
of the Soviet Union,
97. The symbolism of the Victory of Christ over Communism is striking.
98. "And whoever falls on that Stone will be broken; but
on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."
Matthew 21:44
99.
100. The Ascension is a wonderful reminder and
assurance to us that: "The earth will be filled
with the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters
cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14
101. The Ascension proclaims Christ's glorious triumph and His
future return on the Day of Judgement.
Therefore, we as Christians should return to observing
Ascension Day as a Holy Day to our Faith
and applying its implications into every area of life.
102. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
103. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1-2
104. Ascension Day calls us to committed discipleship and
consistent obedience. We need to take up our cross,
forsake the world and follow Christ.
Israel could not fulfil its calling by remaining in bondage in Egypt.
105. Neither can we effectively
serve God today,
if we remain conformed to
this world, in bondage to its
sins and idolatries.
106. . Attempting to accept the
benefits of Jesus
as Saviour,
while denying His
authority as Lord
over all areas of our lives,
is futile.
107. That is why we need to go beyond celebrating Christmas,
worshipping the Babe in the manger.
108. We need to go beyond accepting the Atonement for our sins
and recognise that Jesus Christ is Risen, Ascended,
