This document outlines a black and white portraiture photography project. Students will learn to use natural light and basic lighting techniques to take portraits on location. They will control the background using aperture settings on their cameras. As part of the project, students must complete a title page and summary of portraiture genres with examples, an artist case study, annotated sample shots using different lighting and compositions, and 2-4 final pieces printed on photographic paper. Aims
This project will give you an opportunity to explore location portrait photography, whereyou will
learn how to use natural light and some simple lighting techniques effectively. You will be required
to use the aperture settings on your camera to control the background in your images and you will
be required to work in black and white for this project.
