Bellows College
Hello everyone!
My name is Arwa Noubi
1
And I will take
you on a trip
to North
Korea!
Are you
ready?
We will be taking off
soon!
Do not forget your
camera!
Back your bags!
Bellows College
Do not take your books
and movies if it is in a
Korean language!

Bellows College
While we are in the plane,
let’s talk about North Korea’s media laws:
5
• Although article 53 of the constitution states that North Korean citizens have
freedom of speech, press, assembly, association, and demonstration, such activities
are permitted only in support of government and KWP objectives.
• Domestic media censorship is strictly
enforced, and deviation from the official
government line is not tolerated.
• All domestic media outlets are state controlled and closely monitored, and
produce propaganda with the aim of ensuring absolute loyalty to Kim Jong-un.
.
.
FINALLY, WE ARRIVED !
Back your stuff!
We will be staying at
the tourists hotel.
Bellows College
When any tourist visit the country, he doesn’t leave the
hotel without two supervisors:
Kim Gim
Hi!
11
Welcome to North
Korea!
Bellows College 12
• The North Korean press finds its modus operandi in the ‘Soviet
Communist’ theory for its relationship with its government.
• North Korea is ranked last in RSF's 2017 World Press
Freedom Index.
• In the name of ‘collective good’ as defined by
President Kim II Sung and his party, the basic right
to a free and independent press as understood in its
libertarian sense is denied to North Koreans.
TELEVISION AND RADIO IN NORTH KOREA :
• The television broadcasting is
managed by the Central Broadcasting
Committee.
• Radio and TV sets in North Korea are
supplied pre-tuned to North Korean
stations and must be checked and
registered with the police.

Korean Central
Television
There are four television channels in North
Korea, all are state-owned:
SOCIAL MEDIA AND INTERNET IN NORTH KOREA
• Internet access in North Korea is
in Pyongyang, connected
via a satellite link.
• The general population of North Korea
, however the people do
have access to Kwangmyong, an intranet set
up by the government.
Now, let’s leave our hotel
and say goodbye to our
supervisors:
Bellows College 20While we are on board let me tell you …
Bellows College
North Korean defectors spend tireless
mornings dumping heavy goods into the
sea, they hope that the information loaded
into those USB flash drives can spark
some sort of revolution in the North.
21
• Once you look into media’s
system in North Korea, you
will realize that it is not a
country, it is more like a
prison!
• The problem isn’t always in
the occupation the
government has on media,
but sometimes it is in the
wrong information Korean
people receive about the
world and about their
country.
• And because what happens
there is something up
normal, I predict that one
day, a USB or a book will
break out a revolution.
My opinion:
Bellows College 22
Alright, my friends:
Thank You, and thank
god we live in Egypt!
