Applying Data Engineering and Semantic Standards to Tame the "Perfect Storm" ...Cambridge Semantics
The financial industry is facing a perfect storm of disruptive drivers for data management. While regulators seek accuracy and transparency, institutions are struggling with fragmented data and IT infrastructures. The path forward is “data engineering” – applying consistent semantics with scalable infrastructure to harmonize data and enable traceable and dynamic analytics. In this webinar, we hear from industry practitioners and thought leaders on how this vision is being deployed and also see it in action.

Ceska sporitelna is one of the largest banks in Central Europe and one it’s main goals is to improve the customer experience by weaving together the digital and traditional banking approach. The talk will focus on the real world (both technical and enterprise) challenges during shifting the vision from powerpoint slides into production: Implementing Spark and Databricks-centric analytics platform in the Azure cloud combined with a on-prem data lake in the EU-regulated financial environment Forming a new team focused on solving use cases on top of C360 in the 10 000+ employee enterprise Demonstrating this effort on real use cases such as client risk scoring using both offline and online data Spark and its MLlib as an enabler for employing hundreds of millions of client interactions personalized omni-channel CRM campaigns
Benefiting from Semantic AI along the data life cycleMartin Kaltenböck
Slides of 1 hour session of Martin Kaltenböck (CFO and Managing Partner of Semantic Web Company / PoolParty Software Ltd) on 19 March 2019 in Boston, US at the Enterprise Data World 2019, with its title: Benefiting from Semantic AI along the data life cycle.
Trending use cases have pointed out the complementary nature of Hadoop and existing data management systems—emphasizing the importance of leveraging SQL, engineering, and operational skills, as well as incorporating novel uses of MapReduce to improve distributed analytic processing. Many vendors have provided interfaces between SQL systems and Hadoop but have not been able to semantically integrate these technologies while Hive, Pig and SQL processing islands proliferate. This session will discuss how Teradata is working with Hortonworks to optimize the use of Hadoop within the Teradata Analytical Ecosystem to ingest, store, and refine new data types, as well as exciting new developments to bridge the gap between Hadoop and SQL to unlock deeper insights from data in Hadoop. The use of Teradata Aster as a tightly integrated SQL-MapReduce® Discovery Platform for Hadoop environments will also be discussed.
Big Data LDN 2018: CONNECTING SILOS IN REAL-TIME WITH DATA VIRTUALIZATIONMatt Stubbs
Date: 14th November 2018
Location: Keynote Theatre
Time: 13:50 - 14:20
Speaker: Becky Smith
Organisation: Denodo
About: How many users inside and outside of your organization access your organization’s data? Dozens? Hundreds is probably more like it, each with their own structure and content requirements as well as different access rights. As a result, many organizations have witnessed the formation of “data delivery mills,” in various shapes and sizes. How does one create order and reliability in this world of chaotic data streams? Quite easily, if it’s done with data virtualization.
According to Gartner, "through 2020, 50% of enterprises will implement some form of data virtualization as one enterprise production option for data integration.” Data virtualization enables organizations to gain data insights from multiple, distributed data sources without the time-consuming processes of data extraction and loading. This allows for faster insights and fact-based decisions, which help business realize value sooner.
Join us to find out more about:
• What data virtualization actually means and how it differs from traditional data integration approaches.
• How you can connect and combine all your data in real-time, without compromising on scalability, security or governance.
• The benefits of data virtualization and its most important use cases.

Time: 15:50 - 16:20
Speaker: Patrice Neff
Organisation: Squirro
About: Machine learning and AI need huge amounts of data to train good algorithms. Even in today's Big Data landscape companies still struggle to get access to enough data to train systems. Squirro solves this problems in two ways: easy data access and Pragmatic AI.
Squirro's pragmatic AI approach allows companies to very quickly gain value from their data, without having to spend weeks on training machine learning models.

Date: 14th November 2018
Location: Keynote Theatre
Time: 13:10 - 13:40
Speaker: Matt Aslett
Organisation: 451 Research
About: As 2018 draws to a close, Matt Aslett, Research VP, 451 Research looks ahead to 2019 and the key trends the research company’s Data, AI and Analytics team is anticipating for the year ahead, including the continued rise of DataOps; the increased importance of data science operationalisation; mainstream adoption of AI and machine learning; data platforms evolution; and the confluence of distributed database and blockchain technology in supporting the move towards planetary-scale data processing and analytics.
With the combination of Pentaho and MongoDB, it’s drastically simpler and faster to build single analytical views of clients by aggregating and blending data from a variety of internal sources (customer, transaction, position data) and external sources (social networking, central bank, news, pricing) with fast response times.
Webinar covers:
An insider’s view of new ways financial services companies are using MongoDB to rapidly store and consume unlimited shapes and sizes of data
How Pentaho makes it easy to enrich data in MongoDB with predictive scoring, visual data integration tools, reports, interactive dashboards, and data visualizations
A live demo of blending Twitter, equity pricing, and news data into a single analytical view that unlocks market intelligence to create investment opportunities
As companies around the world look to get a jump on AI efforts, there’s one major question: with dozens of potential AI use cases but limited resources, how can organizations prioritize the right projects?
Carefully selected and well-designed Enterprise AI projects facilitate faster and more efficient collaboration among AI scientists and engineers and ultimately help organizations set up for AI success. In this presentation we share a comprehensive framework for:
1) Choosing relevant projects: defining needs from business lines and cost/benefit analysis.
2) Advanced project scoping: aligning stakeholders, anticipating key steps, defining success metrics.
3) Operationalization of AI projects: challenges and best practices.
