the main purpose of this study is to demonstrate the
importance of ICT in developing MSMEs based on the
success stories of emerging Asian countries. This study
based on subjective/argumentative i.e., idea generation in
Information Systems (IS). The findings of the study reveal
that the MSMEs utilizing ICT can alleviate poverty and
unemployment. It also reveals that MSMEs with ICT and
e-Commerce can enhance employment and new job
creation that can contribute to the overall economic
development. This study is expected to extend for further
an empirical investigation broadly on the same issue to
validate the research results.

2. Introduction
• Artificial intelligence has been one of the most popular and in demand technological advancements
that has taken place. Its current use and scopes suggest a bright future for India if utilized effectively.
• ETCIO from the economics times quotes India as a country that quickly switched from paper to digital
administration during the pandemic, India brings sheer expertise and scalability of solutions to AI
implementation. Pandemic hugely impacted the digital industry in India leading to the realization of
adopting AI. It has been estimated that by 2025, the Indian AI market will reach 7.8 bn USD.
• The IT infrastructure reduces the cost per user, increases the number of people using that information
and is capable of succession when the user is not present.it offers cost effective services which can be
used in long run due to standardization and economies of scale.
• Along with AI the paper also emphasizes the importance of information management in business firms,
growth of nation and how the information available with us should be managed in coordination to the
technology to overcome its problems.
3. Literature Review
• According to research reports and surveys conducted by the Government of India (Global
survey: the state of AI 2020). It shows an indication that organizations are developing
more interest in investing in this technology due to its increasing demands.
• Infact a deeper analysis of the reports suggests that the organizations which use AI get
the highest returns compared to others due to better allocation of resources, budget
planning, cost reduction and leadership.
4. Impact of AI on India
• While there is no serious implication of AI as a tool to replace the existing trends, a few
respondents from the survey believe that 20% of their organization's revenue is contributed using
AI. Compared to the 2019 survey reports, the 2020 survey reports show a growing trend in the
use of AI which is indicative of the fact that the companies are realizing its importance in driving
revenue.
• 22% of the respondents say 5% of the EBIT can be attributed to AI with 48% reporting less than
5%.
• Reports analyzing the AI use cases commonly adopted by business organizations depicts that the
largest shares of respondents report revenue increases for inventory and parts optimization,
pricing and promotion, customer-service analytics, and sales and demand forecasting. Here the
use cases which led to cost reduction include the optimization of talent management, contact-
center automation, and warehouse optimization. More than 2/3 of the respondents say it
increased revenue while half suggest it reduced costs.
5. Development of AI in India
• To have these developments the country needs to strategize its plans, so for that the NITI
Aayog published a discussion paper in June 2018 titled as “National Strategy” with
#AIforAll which visioned India among the top leaders of AI global map.
• For the fiscal impact, greater good and a control on its disruptive effect the strategy has
decided to focus primarily on five sectors to have a societal impact as well which includes
– 1) Healthcare, 2) Agriculture, 3) Education, 4) Infrastructure, 5) Transportation.
• The paper also emphasizes maintaining privacy, data handling and adoption of
international standards.
• According to Brooking institution yet NASSCOM’S AI Index 2022 indicates India’s AI
maturity to be 2.45 out of 4 which suggests it is just beginning in AI.
• The research from economic times shows that 59% of technology leaders accelerated
their investments in AI and 60% in robotic automation strategies.
6. Policies of AI in different countries
• Singapore- The country comes 1st in list of AI development readiness scoring 9.186, also it is one
of the most developed and rich countries of India. Some of the new inventions on which they are
working nowadays include farming i.e., they are trying to develop means for indoor farming using
AI and including robotics and artificial intelligence in the educational curriculums. Singapore is
indeed an inspiration for all the countries as it has proved that even the lack of resources and
land the country can still manage to put the best use of whatever resources they are left with and
make the country grow. In this AI played a very crucial role and made it possible.
• United Kingdom-It comes second in the list of AI innovative countries. The tech companies of UK
in 2017 invested a total of $ 8.6 billion us dollars in the same year the UK government announced
a sun of $78 million funding for the development of robotics and AI. This suggests that Indian tech
companies, government, and private firm should also invest a considerable sum of money for this
technology, try to move on from the traditional processes of achieving business aims and adopt
the newer methods to work smarter in this high-tech world and meet the competition.
7. • Japan- Japan being the most developed country in Asia aims at solving real problems
than virtual problems to compete with the developments of countries like China and US.
The country tries to solve social problems such as development of AI solutions and
innovations that can help in our day to day lives and help aging people in fulfilling their
everyday needs in cases where not enough healthcare settings and labor services are
provided. India can also focus on adopting such measures for the welfare of population.
• China- It is known that China is known as the manufacturing country, but now it is
focusing on its AI developmental process. In 2017, China announced its intention to
transform into “a principal world center of artificial intelligence innovation” by 2030. The
country has even published 4000 Research papers on AI. India should also put some
efforts in doing more research on such topics and make the young generation more
aware of its importance and support ideas for new innovations.
8. Use of Information Management
• The role of information management is to assist employees in organizations to function well, make quicker and
informed decisions. They deliver the right information to the right person at the right time and at the right place.
• In the business world, information management also faces a lot of challenges which includes security automation,

• AI is creating the biggest technological wave of our lifetime, the future is shining and encouraging. Artificial
intelligence and information management make human life easier with the efficient and effective use of resources.
In the management and organization all the task or work which earlier used to take hours to do, now is becoming
automated with the help of artificial intelligence it will not just help in increasing production rates but also
increased productivity in every sector of economy. In such kind of ways AI and IM support each other and
coordinate to increase profitability of organization and develop the condition of the Country.
9. Research Methodology
• The main purpose of the research paper is to study the impact of Artificial intelligence on
India and what is its effect on the present scenario. We have referred to various books on
artificial intelligence and information management.
• Using the Descriptive method of research this paper analyses various reports and
information provided by the government of India (indiaai.gov.in) on various platforms
and we also studied some already existing research on the similar topics to look for some
of the possible solutions to the problems faced by India which is becoming a barrier in its
development.
12. • Comparing the graphs of the revenue increase and cost decrease through AI from FY18
to FY19, it can be clearly seen that there has not been any momentous change with the
application of AI in various departments of the organization which is indicative of the fact
that there is still a long way to go for its development to get some notable changes in the
economies.
13. Findings
• Some of the key findings of this paper is that India has just begun its process of AI development
so there is still a long way to go. There is not much visible change in the economic growth of
country or any meaningful change in efficiency of the processes of the organization which
suggests that the artificial intelligence in India is not much advanced to the extent that it can
cause a revolutionary change in every sector of economy and the existing policies should be
implemented effectively to see an actual change.
• In the field of information management as well the integration of technology is necessary to
overcome the problems faced during the managerial process. Though the problems are many, but
a steady growth is seen, and if the present innovation and increase in research and investments in
these fields continues to happen then we can see tremendous changes and a new face of India.
• AI and IM can intensify each other's effect when they individually are not able to bring fast
changes to see profitable results for example a holistic strategy is needed for a wider application
of AI in India as it would help in providing knowledge to the consumers to become smart users.
So, we see that India needs to frame some policies for AI and IM together.
14. Conclusion
• In future autonomous robots, Automatic machineries and AI will become our reality so it
is especially important that we go hand in hand with the advancing technology as the
time passes to sustain in the world. As the population is increasing the resources are
getting scarce therefore bringing sustainable techniques becomes useful in this critical
time.
• India's AI policy focuses on a “Responsible AI” approach as careful and thoughtful
decisions are made to develop its framework such that the formed policies are safe,
accurate and reliable. AI has brought many innovations and revolutionary methods to
make our lives easier, examples may include improving air quality and reduce emissions
at sites near taj mahal using artificial neural networks. Traffic congestion problems can
also be solved by providing its information and using AI techniques. Many more such
techniques are still in progress to be developed in the companies of healthcare, tech,
education and even farming.
