While expensive brand names and runway fashion may seem superficial, clothing and style can illustrate cultural transformations over time and give people a first step up from poverty by allowing them to elevate their appearance. Ultimately, fashion and style are necessary for survival by providing optimism that helps people endure life's challenges.

Fashion, some call it a crutch of survival, is an art of personal self-expression, not an excuse to
be appealing, favored and charismatic. It’s a state of mind, a spirit, or an extension of one’s self
as it talks and can be an understated whisper, a high-energy scream or an all knowing wink and a
smile. Most of all fashion is about being comfortable with yourself by translating self-esteem
into a personal style. What people wear every morning that says a lot about them. Clothes create
a wordless means of communication that we all understand and we are constantly being
bombarded with new fashion ideas. The pace of fashion is so fast now that keeping up is nigh on
impossible. Fashion is revealing. Clothes reveal what group’s people are in. A little of what you
call frippery is very necessary towards looking like the rest of the world. Even when you hear
this word fashion you may very well think of ditsy supermodels that strut around in thousand
dollar name brand pieces of fabric. But fashion is always shifting, even if something you’re
wearing is deemed in fashion today, it likely won’t be very soon, possibly as early as tomorrow.
Many of the things on the runway look ridiculous and aren't things that any normal person would
ever wear. Fashion can be two things. It can be as simple as something you put on to make
yourself feel beautiful, or as dynamic as something illustrative of culture, time and its
transformations. Whereas the style, it’s about honoring your uniqueness and having your
outsides match your insides by utilizing the best aspects of you. Fashion, no doubt, is the
currency with which anyone can trade but on the other hand it divides the classes and puts the
rich above all, it gives them an attitude of superiority, but having money doesn’t mean you have
style and that is why style is so important as it blurs the lines of the class system which makes it
harder for the rich and poor and middle class to know who is who, Undoubtedly style is attitude
and personality. Fashion is the first step out of poverty. You have nothing and then you put
something on. It is one of the first things you do to elevate yourself. Why are people scandalized
by spending money on clothes? Everybody is so passionate about this, if fashion might actually
convince you that there is no end point, there is no darkness and that life runs in an ongoing loop
littered by rose-colored fancies, it cannot be deemed unnecessary. Quite the contrary; it is
decisively necessary for survival, for endurance and for the gumption with which you persevere.
