It is one of the leading companies in the field of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) in India. Mr. Prashant Modi is
currently the President and Chief Operating Officer at this firm, which is located in the southern part of
the country.
Incorporated in 1992, GEECL a fully integrated, leading Indian CBM company focused on the
monetisation of natural gas from coal seams. In merely 13 years, the company was listed on the London
Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM). This shows that December 2005 was a very
fruitful period. That was not an end, five years later in May 2010, GEECL made its mark in the main
market of the London Stock Exchange with its GDRs.
Under the leadership of Mr. Prashant Modi, GEECL has successfully become a leader as a vertically

The success of GEECL can be accredited to Mr. Prashant Modi as his association with the company was

Mr. Prashant Modi looks after the day-to-day operations of GEECL. He can be praised for his efforts in
listing the Company’s GDRs at the Alternate Investment Market in the London Stock Exchange in 2005
and 2006. He invested his time in earnest and conscientious activity to list GEECL in the main board of
the London Stock Exchange. And his efforts finally paid off in May 2010.
GEECL was recognized as “The Best Entity in the Area of Corporate Social Responsibility” in the first ever
ET Bengal Corporate Awards held in March 2013.
Before joining GEECL, Mr. Prashant Modi obtained a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from Boston University, USA with a major in finance. He also completed executive
education courses from Harvard Business School, USA, namely in finance and launching new ventures.
He’s currently undertaking the renowned “Owner President Management” program at Harvard Business
School.
