New technologies in the 19th century like photography and lithography challenged traditional notions of art by allowing mechanical reproduction of visual images. This dissertation examines the author's experience providing inclusion training to preservice art teachers through the lens of critical theory. As an art teacher, the author initially struggled to effectively teach students with disabilities due to a lack of disability-specific training. This motivated the author to investigate how to better prepare art teachers for inclusion. The study involved conducting seminars on inclusion for seven preservice art teachers, applying principles of critical theory. Data sources included interviews and questionnaires with the preservice teachers. The findings showed critical theory impacted the author's teaching philosophy and identity as a teacher educator. It also helped the preservice teachers develop their teaching identities and competence in addressing educational dilemmas regarding inclusion.
