This lecture covered graphic design and styles from the Bauhaus period through World War 2 posters. It discussed the works of Bauhaus artists Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Herbert Bayer. Surrealist influences from Man Ray and the styles of De Stijl and Dada movements were also reviewed. Photography by Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Andre Kertesz was highlighted along with London Underground posters and fascist propaganda. John Heartfield and George Grosz's work with political posters was examined as well as Allied posters from World War 2.
