5. DEFINITION OF TERMS
Art is the expression or application of
human creative skill and imagination,
typically in a visual form such as painting
or sculpture, producing works to be
appreciated primarily for their beauty or
emotional power.
7. DEFINITION OF TERMS
Art appreciation is the study and understanding of the
visual arts, including painting, sculpture, architecture, and
other forms of expression.
It involves learning about the elements and principles of
art, as well as the historical and cultural context in which
works of art were created.
9. ASSUMPTION OF ARTS
Assumption is a thing that is accepted as
true or as certain to happen, without
proof. It is something that you accept as
true without question or proof.
10. ASSUMPTIONS OF ARTS
Art is Universal
Arts is Cultural

Art involves experience
Art as an expression
Art as a form of creation
11. ART IS UNIVERSAL
Art has always been timeless and
universal,spanning generations and continents
through andthrough (slidesahre.net, 2019). Often
times, peoplefeel that what is considered artistic
are only thosewhich have been made long time
ago. This is amisconception. Age is not a factor in
determining art.“An art is not good because it is old, but
old becauseit is good” (Dudley et al., 1960).
12. ART IS CULTURAL
According to Dr. Mariano Ariola (2018),
artcontribute to the understanding of the past
andpresent cultures. Through art, people learn
abouttheir culture’s values and strengthen their culture’s
identity. Through art, the people feel proud of
theircustoms, traditions and beliefs they give sense
of belonging.
13. ART IS NOT NATURE
Art is not nature because it is man-made.
Art is man’s interpretation of what he perceives as
art.
Art is man’s way of interpreting nature.
Nature, such asthe mountains, the volcano,
lakes, rivers, landterrains are made by God and
not by man. Thus, artis made by man by all times
(Ariola, 2018).
14. ART INVOLVES EXPERIENCE
Unlike fields of knowledge that involve
data, artis known by experiencing. A work
of art then cannotbe abstracted from
actual doing. In order to knowwhat an
artwork is, we have to sense it, see or
hearit, and see and hear it (slideshare.net,
2019).
15. ART IS AN EXPRESSION
According to Jeff Lee (2016), art is a form
ofexpression of the deepest emotion of the
minds.According to him, the egoic mind (conscious
mind)and the echoic mind (unconscious
mind) togethermaking up the totality of thinking.
