Are you due for an oil change?
1. Oil change checklist: Should you schedule one?
When’s the last time you visited our Clermont Toyota service center for an oil
change? If it’s been a while, you may want to take a peek under the hood to see
if you’re due for one. After all, a tank full of clean oil is what keeps your car up
and running no matter how hard it’s working. If you’re unsure as to whether you
should schedule this essential car maintenance, Toyota of Clermont can help.
Check out this quick checklist from our Toyota service techs to see if you’re due!
6 signs you should schedule an oil change
Sign #1: Your oil doesn’t fall between the two tic marks. When you pull the oil
dipstick out of the engine, you’ll see two tic marks on it. The oil level should be
between these two marks – if it’s below the bottom tic mark, then you’re running
low on oil and need to schedule a Clermont oil change before your car’s
performance or parts (or both) take a hit.
Sign #2: You can hear rumbling or knocking noises coming from the engine. If
you hear odd knocking or rumbling noises from inside the engine, it could spell
trouble. These noises can happen due to metal rubbing on metal, which means
you don’t have enough clean oil to keep the engine cool and lubricated. They can
also indicate that all that friction has broken something. Either way, schedule an
appointment at Toyota of Clermont.
2. Sign #3: You see smoke coming from your exhaust. It’s normal to see vapor
coming from your car’s exhaust pipe (especially if it’s a chilly morning), but if you
see smoke, you may have a problem with your Clermont Toyota’s oil. Schedule
an oil change and let our techs get to the bottom of it.
Sign #4: You smell oil inside the cabin of your car. You should never smell
engine oil inside of your car – this indicates a leak, and it can be costly and
dangerous if not fixed. Let our Clermont Toyota service techs take a peek at
what’s going on under the hood to pinpoint and fix the leak and get you back out
on the road.
Sign #5: Your oil is dark or dirty. Remember how you can pull the oil dipstick out
to check the oil level? That’s also your shot to inspect the quality of the oil. The
oil should be tan or caramel in color. If it’s dark brown or black, or if you can see
specks of dirt in it, it’s time for an oil change. Dirty oil can’t properly cool or
lubricate an engine and you can end up with expensive damage.
Sign #6: Your oil light illuminates in the dash. Last but not least, if your oil light
illuminates in your dash, it’s time to schedule an oil change. Call Toyota of
Clermont!
3. Schedule your car care at Toyota of Clermont
