Så hvordan fungerer egentlig dette? Man jobber på datamaskinen sin med kode. For å sende koden til Arduino’en plugger vi en USB-kabel fra PC’en til Arduino-kortet. Når vi så klikker på opplastings-knappen sendes programmet til Arduino’en. Programmet kjører med en gang opplastingen er ferdig. Hver gang Arduino’en får strøm setter den i gang med å kjøre programmet den fikk sist.
