Research data as the main product of research can be unique and is often the result of a complex and cost-intensive research process. Reuse and reinterpretation of such material is envisioned, not only to maintain research integrity, but also to accelerate the advancement of science by sharing results in an early stage.
Generally speaking, there is little general experience with preservation, provision and publishing of research data. Thus so far little research has been done when it comes to researching data publishing models. In history, this has partly been due to the limited existing infrastructures, but with current information technologies, modern and tailored research data provision and publishing are facilitated.
Why tailored? Characteristics of research data vary across and within disciplines. This results in more complex prerequisites/specification when compared to the process of paper publication which is very similar across disciplines. Thus, tailored models are necessary to match the individual characteristics of research data across disciplines. Within this presentation three different approaches are distinguished: object centric, text centric and data centric. Prerequisites and limitations regarding timing and room of the data provision will be discussed and experiences with each of the different models presented.
Regardless of these models, it becomes apparent that due to the individual characteristics of research data, its provision and publication is only possible with the support and knowhow of the research community. This know-how needs to be linked to the competences of infrastructure facilities.

This paper intends to show a positive view on changes occurring in communities and social relationships in the age of the network society. With the emergence of new technologies, the meaning of “community” is changing from the traditional neighborhood community, to a group of people that are more tied together in terms of social networks, connected through various networks including computer networks. The hypothesis is that in such communities there are formations of weak ties that connect people with different social backgrounds or communities and thus bring in useful information and connections into one’s life. The effect of weak ties is also significant in process of innovations, which enables small contributions by a large number of people in order to complete a task or an event. Despite early criticism that network society would fragment social ties and families, this essay will explain the positive side of the changes.

"Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey Toward Sustainability"
The booklet of my master’s thesis at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. (Gothenburg, Sweden)
This thesis explores the transformation of the vacated (2023) IKEA store in Kållered, Sweden, into a "Reuse Hub" addressing various user types. The project aims to create a model for circular and sustainable economic practices that promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and a shift in societal overconsumption patterns.
Reuse, though crucial in the circular economy, is one of the least studied areas. Most materials with reuse potential, especially in the construction sector, are recycled (downcycled), causing a greater loss of resources and energy. My project addresses barriers to reuse, such as difficult access to materials, storage, and logistics issues.
Aims:
• Enhancing Access to Reclaimed Materials: Creating a hub for reclaimed construction materials for both institutional and individual needs.
• Promoting Circular Economy: Showcasing the potential and variety of reusable materials and how they can drive a circular economy.
• Fostering Community Engagement: Developing spaces for social interaction around reuse-focused stores and workshops.
• Raising Awareness: Transforming a former consumerist symbol into a center for circular practices.
Highlights:
• The project emphasizes cross-sector collaboration with producers and wholesalers to repurpose surplus materials before they enter the recycling phase.
• This project can serve as a prototype for reusing many idle commercial buildings in different scales and sizes.
• The findings indicate that transforming large vacant properties can support sustainable practices and present an economically attractive business model with high social returns at the same time.
• It highlights the potential of how sustainable practices in the construction sector can drive societal change.

Il progetto consiste in una serie di faretti quadrati ad incasso da collocare alle basi dell’edificio in corrispondenza dei vani

I faretti non seguono una linea continua come le barre LED ma sono disposti in modo irregolare ma omogeneo, esattamen-

THE PROJECT
The site is in a position that requires buildings adapted to the climate zone and that respects the traditional construc-
tion manner in order to use materials from the same site.
The intention is to reorganize the differents services in blocks according to types of users and the destination of use
(like a division of molecules): ventilating the bloques and identifying each one by the colours, which contains services
for all (young people, elderly, disabled, sick, visitors). Each patio has got a different colour and represents a symbol
responding to the traditional indian meaning of colours. Therefore yellow is luckiness, green is evolution, orange is
healtiness, blue is the truth, and violet is sacrifice. Then each colour has got the function to inspire the associated idea.

THE MASTERPLAN
The aim of the project is to revitalize one of the suburbs of Antwerp in order to establish a social cohesion in the neigh-
bourhood and provide a sustainable future to the community. The program has been designed: residential and private.
The intention is to create a mixture of functions in which every generation could recognize itself. There are residential
functions such as regular housing, social housing, student housing and service-flats. The private ones are a day-care
center, laundry room, café-bakery-library, multifunctional room and auditorium, physical therapy center, green house.
23. Site Plan scale 1:500
scale 1:200
THE PROJECT
The main will of the group work and then my final individual one, was the connection among all the disconnected elements that are already there on the site. The three building blocks
are one student housing, one multifunctional sports hall and an auditorium and music hall. The aim of this program is to recall the concept of “waiting land waterfront” through which
architects and planners create strategies to protect the balance of mixed activity against possible homogenisation. This, in order to enable the raw site and to develop into a “social
condenser” for its surroundings, rather than being a parasite within the city. Those “lands” are waiting for something better and so, they have to be kept open to change. So, starting
from this idea of architecture as a catalyst for future improvements through indentification instruments, I thought about a building that serves not only for people who does sports but
for the whole community and close neighbourhoods. Finally, starting from the point of viev that people are selfish and not so open to collectivity values, we,
as designers, must provide instruments which help social interactions occur , and by doing so, build in the inhabitants of a place a certain feeling of belonging to the neighbourhood.
When people feel “at home” and like living in a certain city, they do everything that is in their power to keep that place safe and unconsciously “sustainable”. Doing so, and only con-
sidering these aspects, we may possibly design sustainable environments in which it is comfortable to live in.

An important element of the wole

In particular, there are three main
axes: a cross at the northern side
where the two multifunctional
buildings are placed and; one line that
creates a passage between the student
housing and the regular housing
which looks towards the Lobroekdok.
At the end, a last axis, but not forAt the end, a last axis, but not for

THE PROJECT
The site is Rabot, the three well-known towers are going to be removed and replaced with eight
apartments blocks with four to eight levels. To give the site an ecological upgrade in the design
there is the use of solar leaf panels with acoustic properties along the south-east sidewalk. It cre-
ates a more quiet place at the green public spaces and electricity to the apartments. The café Rabot
will have its own extra solar leaf panels to maximize the energy gain for the place.
The project is more than just a café, it’s a connection between the city center of Ghent and the out-
er part of Ghent. A place where people come together at a multifunctional space. It is instinctive to
add the next layer.

Semester Spring 2014
Course Design Studio
Duration 14 weeks
Professors Ag-Ukrikul Chotima / Goes Wim
Site Gent, Belgium
THE CONCEPT
The concept of the “missing link” derives from the alley, which is not complete until the end. When somebody starts
walking through the alley, there is a clear frame created by the surrounding buildings. At the edge of the building there
is a certain confusion. Suddenly, you can find yourself in an open space. Is it still public or private?
This confusion is keeping people away from the site, the steps.
By adding a wall we want to restore the lost connection of this journey. The site has been built up with different layers
of materials through time.
It is instinctive to add the next layer.

Semester Spring 2015
Course Design studio IV
Duration 16 weeks
Tutor Claudi Aguilo
Site Torre Baro - Barcelona (Spain)
THE MASTERPLAN
This master dissertation studio is focused on investigating self-management systems to define new social and urban
transformation processes, almost without public budget, of urban exclusion areas in first world cities. This particular
case is a mountain area, mainly selfbuilt between the 1920s and 1960s on the outskirts of Barcelona, known as the Torre
Baró quarter.
The main topic of the research is focused on Social Sustainability and to look for ways to re-create a community. The mas-
terplan project has been studies in pairs and the micro-plan individually. The final project is also an attempt to re-create a
lost social cohesion among the inhabitants of Torre Baro and bring new life and activities within the future growing city.
37. THE PROJECT
As the main aim of the project is to re-program the function of a cultural reference point, restore its old meaning (the tower was designed to be an hotel since the beginning), and finally
to re-integrate the monument into the neighbourhood’s scenario, this is an architectural attempt.
The strong natural surroundings of the site required a necessary re-naturing of the area, creating an artificial image that would believed to be natural even if it is not. This rule on the
panorama of Landscape Design has been the most difficult to apply. Another important element considered in this project has been the topography. This is an attempt to follow the
earth and create an environment that would embrace the monument of the tower without disturbing the atmosphere of calm. In order to establish this connection between the two
types of users (tourists and inhabitants), there is a third element which is the inner patio. It gives not only light inside but gives a curios view of the private to the public.
Finally, with this proposal, even if just in theory, I wish to bring new forms of appropriation of the site that could give an example for the future proof development of the neighbour-
hood, and for a sustainable Torre Baro.
The proposal wants to stand out of the local scenario and bring a mixture of elements that could re-connect the mountain of Collserola to the city of Barcelona.
