The king of Greece commissioned a blacksmith to make him a gold crown but suspected he was tricked and given a crown containing silver instead of pure gold. He asked Archimedes for help solving this problem. Archimedes realized in the bath that he could determine the crown's composition by measuring how much water it displaces compared to an equal weight of gold. He excitedly informed the king he had found a solution and tested the crown's density in water, discovering it contained silver according to Archimedes' principle of displacement.

- 2. THE GOLDEN CROWN One time in history there was a king of Greece that wanted a crown! He gave an exact amount of gold to a blacksmith to make an crown!
- 3. ARCHIMEDES The king of Greece thought that he have been tricked by the blacksmith! Then he called on Archimedes! And he told Archimedes the story about the crown. And then he asked Archimedes of help!
- 4. AR C H IME D E S IN H I S BAT H Archimedes sat in his bath and thought how he could solve this problem and then he lay down in his bath and then he saw that the water was going up in stead of being the same! And he got so exited so he jumped out of his bath and he yelled EUREKa that basicly means I’ve found it! Well what did he found? He found a way to solve the kings problem!
- 5. AR C H IME D E S CAME T O T H E K ING Archimedes came running to the king! And when he got there he explained it all to the king! And started to experiment! Achimedes needed check the crowns density to check if it was the same as the gold he gave the blacksmith! The silver is taking more place than gold! So the crown took more space in the water and the gold took less space in the water! Thats the achimedes principe
