This document analyzes changes in obscenity law due to entertainment and media. Recent court cases have sided with defendants in favor of expanding acceptable values in media. Analysis shows language in media has become more lax over time. The document also reviews cases and arguments regarding how consumers view obscene media, benefits of restricting violent/obscene content for youth, and targeting of advertisements. It concludes that media freedoms around "obscene" subjects are growing and censorship is often unnecessary or impossible.
