Animals feel emotions like humans and have rights that should be respected. The document discusses how animals are used for hunting, food, testing products and making clothing, which often involves cruelty and suffering. It argues that animals should not be subjected to bad treatment or cruel acts, and their lives should be respected. People can help animals by not buying fur, joining animal rights groups, choosing cruelty-free products, and eating less meat.
The document discusses veganism and what it entails. Vegans do not consume any animal products, including eggs, dairy, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics and soaps. People become vegan for health reasons and to avoid supporting industries that cause harm to animals, such as dairy cows and calves raised for veal. The document provides background information on the vegan lifestyle and diet.
We as a E-creature will be working on proper management of stray-animals and creating a animal living society which will eventually helps us to maintain a smart-city.
Our core message is “joined up governance”. We are joining up project/portfolio governance with service delivery governance, financial governance, outsourcing governance and corporate governance within a single cloud-based system and SLAs, KPIs, actions, risks, issues, projects, financials, commercials, people’s opinions - all in one place at last. Drives ownership and accountability. Brilliant reports and even better context, perspective, accountability and audit trails across the big things you are managing.

Surprisingly many web developers don't realize that Javascript ecosystem is not the same as it was few years ago, when building a single-page web application was considered risky business.
Those times are way behind. Modern javascript MVC frameworks are if not silver, but certainly solid bullets which every person who wants to use benefits of evolution should be aware of.
I'll tell you about challenges that happen when you build a single-page application, about REST interface, and certainly about one of such frameworks: AngularJS, created by hackers from Google keeping in mind best software development principles such as TDD and dependency injections. That's why writing with AngularJS is such a pleasure.

This document discusses plans for a strawberry farming business in Zambia. The business aims to provide funding for orphan care programs through profits. The farming business will employ local caregivers and aims to double employees' salaries within 8 months. The strawberries will be sold to major grocery store chains in Zambia, utilizing existing distribution networks. The business is run separately from the orphan care ministry but aims to gift a minimum of 10% of net cash flow annually to support orphan care programs in Zambia, with a long term goal of 30-50% of profits being gifted. All ultimate profits from the business will support orphan care in Zambia.
This document provides an overview of artifacts and historical sources that illustrate the material culture of American slavery. It references probate records, slave badges, store ledgers, eyewitness accounts, paintings, and photographs that depict aspects of slave life such as clothing, household goods, musical instruments, agricultural work, and education. The sources highlighted range in date from the mid-18th to early 20th centuries and provide insights into slave ownership, labor, and community.
According to the animal rights philosophy, animals have basic rights to life, liberty, and freedom from suffering just as humans do. The animal rights movement strives to raise animals' status beyond property or commodities for human use. Those who believe in animal rights think animals have an inherent right to exist and should not be killed, kept captive, or tortured by humans. The movement opposes using animals for food, clothing, entertainment, research, and other human purposes.

ANIMAL WELFARE
Animal welfare means how an animal is coping with the conditions in which it lives.
An animal is in a satisfactory state of wellbeing when it is healthy, comfortable, well nourished, safe, able to express its innate behaviour, and if it is not suffering from unpleasant states such as pain, fear and distress.(OIE)
The welfare of an individual is its state as regards its attempts to cope with its environment. An animal in good state of welfare is: -
healthy, well nourished
Comfortable, safe
Not suffering from unpleasant state such as pain, fear, and distress
Able to express natural behavior
Good AW requires disease prevention and veterinary treatment, appropriate shelter, management, nutrition, humane handling and humane slaughter and killing.
Screaming Chicken's theory of animal rights. I'd love to hear your comments, problems with the presentation watever! Thanks!
"This presentation address’s just a couple of the reasons regarding the theories around animal rights, and in no way represents a absolute argument for the rights of animals. There are many other compelling reasons to convert to a plant based diet, what follows is simply one of those reasons."
The ASPCA is the first humane society established in North America in 1866 to prevent cruelty to animals. It aims to provide shelters and care for homeless animals, spread knowledge about animal cruelty through events, and be a voice for animals. Its overall goal is to increase live release rates from shelters through programs like increasing spay/neuter resources and adoption programs. The ASPCA responds to cases of animal cruelty and provides relief services to domestic animals during disasters.

The document discusses the author's views on animal rights. The author believes that animals do not have rights and are meant to serve humans. They argue that animals cannot speak for themselves and are sub-creatures designed to accommodate human needs. The author also states that eating meat is natural and necessary, and that animals see humans as food.
The Humane Society of the United States works to reduce animal suffering and promote animal welfare through advocacy, education, hands-on programs, and enforcement of animal cruelty laws. They operate animal shelters across the country and provide direct care for animals in need. The organization relies on donations and fundraising to support their mission of creating a more humane world for all animals.
Toni Eakes running a non-profit organization that has a BIG heart for animals. We rescue animals that are in need or danger. While we primarily rescue dogs and cats, we are always willing to try and help whenever there is an animal in need.
Vegans avoid eating meat, dairy products, eggs, and other animal-derived substances. They seek to reduce animal cruelty and environmental damage from industrial animal agriculture. The number of vegans has grown significantly in recent years, especially among teenagers and young adults influenced by social media. A vegan diet focuses on plants such as vegetables, grains, beans, nuts, and fruits. While restricting certain foods, veganism can be nutritionally balanced and provide health benefits by reducing risks of diabetes, disease, obesity, and cancer. However, some animal products are still tested in cosmetics and clothing industries, prompting the vegan lifestyle.
The Teen T.A.I.L.S. handbook provides information about volunteering at the Humane Society of Central Arizona (HSCAZ). It details HSCAZ's mission to provide compassionate care for animals, programs like adoption and foster care, volunteer responsibilities and training levels. Teen volunteers progress through levels with more duties like socializing animals. The handbook also explains HSCAZ's community programs and collaborations with other animal welfare groups.

People who support animal rights recognise that all animals have an inherent worth – a value completely separate from their usefulness to humans. We believe that every being with a will to live has the right to live free from exploitation and suffering.
Peace for Pets is a non-profit organization that aims to promote humane treatment of animals through educational programs, a safe haven program for pets of domestic violence victims, and a Trap-Neuter-Return program for feral cats. The organization offers seminars on various topics related to animal welfare and provides short term foster care for up to 90 days for pets of individuals entering domestic violence shelters. Peace for Pets also implements Trap-Neuter-Return programs to humanely address feral cat populations in a cost-effective manner.
The Animal Outreach Club at Hudson Valley Community College provides resources to help animals locally and globally through education initiatives and fundraising efforts. The club plans volunteer opportunities, field trips, workshops, and guest speakers on animal protection issues and humane education. It also advertises adoption services and upcoming fundraisers like an annual holiday sale and bottle/can drive. The college further offers programs in animal policy, veterinary assisting, and pet certification to prepare students for careers helping animals.
A presentation from a forum organised by Animal Rights Advocates Inc. on the intersections of environmentalism and animal rights - where they converge and where they conflict and how we can move both forward ethically and responsibly.
Animal Rights Advocates Inc. (ARA) is hosting a free forum on May 23rd from 2-5PM at City West Lotteries House in West Perth to discuss how environmental protection and animal rights intersect and sometimes conflict. Representatives from ARA and The Wilderness Society will discuss issues like non-native species, overfishing, and the environmental impacts of animal agriculture, followed by an open discussion on balancing environmental and animal rights interests.
The document outlines the categories for an annual bake off fundraiser, including: Best in Show, Best Decorated Cake, Most Inspirational IDAHo Cake celebrating freedom from discrimination, Best Tasting Vegan Baked Good, Best Tasting Decadent Baked Good, and Best Tasting Healthy Choice Baked Good. Additional categories include Best Entry by a Community Group, student and kids cake decorating categories, and a Professional Cupcake Category for cake companies. Celebrity judges will include people from television and magazines, with entertainment provided.
A party for animal activists and their friends will be held on Saturday, January 2nd from 6-10PM at Earthwise located at 315 Bagot Rd in Subiaco. The event is a New Year's party where attendees are asked to bring a vegan plate to share. There will be live music, door prizes, games, and free stuff along with advocacy information from the animal rights organization ARA.

Gary Francione argues that animal welfare is misguided and will not lead to the abolition of animal exploitation. He believes animal rights requires recognizing that animals should not be treated as property and advocates for veganism. While some groups campaign for better treatment of farm animals, Francione rejects this as it suggests exploitation can be acceptable if humane. He also disagrees with those who say animals only care about suffering, not life, and believes they have a right to not be used as commodities like humans.
We treat animals how we used to treat human slaves, with no justification except religious superstition according to Gary Francione, a professor of law and philosopher. Francione argues that animals deserve rights similar to how we no longer accept the domination of humans. The article provides commentary and analysis of our treatment of animals from Francione's perspective.
- Pollutants in fish may cancel out the beneficial effects of the ‘good’ omega-3 fats they contain
- ALA (from plant foods) can be converted into EPA and DHA, and has a protective effect against heart disease
- Cutting down on dietary cholesterol (eggs, meat and dairy products), processed foods, and hydrogenated vegetable oils will help your body to make best use of the omega-3 from plant foods
The document discusses the health benefits and risks of consuming soya. It provides a long history of safe soya consumption dating back thousands of years. It examines soya's nutritional value as a protein and mineral source and its ability to lower cholesterol. Studies show that soya protein, through isoflavones and other components, can significantly reduce the frequency and severity of menopausal hot flashes when consumed as part of the diet.
- Proteins are needed to form muscles, hair, nails, and other molecules, but most diets containing enough calories also contain sufficient protein.
- The document argues that vegetarians and vegans can meet their protein needs through foods like soy, cereals, pulses, nuts and seeds as part of a calorie-sufficient diet.
- Excess protein intake, especially from animal sources, may increase risk of diseases, while plant-based diets use fewer resources and can help address global hunger issues.
This document discusses iron and its sources. It debunks the myth that vegetarians and vegans are at higher risk of iron deficiency due to lack of meat consumption. There are two types of iron - haem iron found in meat which is more easily absorbed, and non-haem plant-based iron which is also well-absorbed. Many plant foods such as lentils, beans, leafy greens, and fortified cereals are excellent sources of iron. Factors like vitamin C can increase iron absorption from plants, while calcium, phytates, and tannins may decrease its absorption. A balanced vegetarian or vegan diet with attention to iron sources can meet or exceed iron needs.
This document provides an alphabetical glossary of animal-derived substances commonly found in food, cosmetics and other products. Each entry briefly explains what the substance is and which animals it comes from. The glossary aims to help consumers identify non-vegetarian ingredients and make ethical purchasing decisions. It also discusses various farming practices and their animal welfare implications.
The document discusses cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes heart disease and stroke. CVD is the UK's number one killer. It occurs when fatty deposits build up in the arteries, restricting blood flow and oxygen to the heart and brain. A plant-based diet can help prevent and treat CVD in several ways. It is lower in saturated fat and cholesterol than the standard Western diet, and higher in nutrients that support heart health. Factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, obesity, and smoking increase CVD risk, but following a plant-based diet can help regulate these risk factors.
A plant-based diet is the healthiest option for children according to the author. Animal products promote diseases like cancer while vegetarian diets protect health. The document outlines how animal products can cause allergies, intolerances and diseases in children. It recommends encouraging children to adopt a plant-based diet from a young age to promote lifelong good health and reduce disease risk.
This document discusses the health benefits of plant oils compared to fish oils. It summarizes several studies that show plant oils are more effective than fish oils at reducing mortality from heart attacks. While fish contains omega-3 fatty acids, plant oils from seeds, nuts and their oils are richer sources. The document also notes concerns about toxins like mercury accumulating in fish and the failure of public health strategies to increase fish consumption in the UK. In conclusion, a plant-based diet is considered the best choice for long-term heart health and overall wellness.
This document discusses calcium and bone health. It argues that cow's milk is not the best source of calcium and may actually be harmful. While calcium is important for bone health, the document asserts that physical activity and overall diet and lifestyle are more important factors. It provides numerous plant-based sources of calcium that are easily absorbed and beneficial for bone health, such as leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and beans.
1. Animal Rights Advocates Inc. (ARA) is a volunteer-run not for profit animal rights organisation
based in Perth, Western Australia that campaigns for the abolition of animal exploitation. ARA
recognises that other animals are sentient individuals who possess inherent value regardless of
their usefulness to humans and who therefore are entitled to certain basic rights. ARA seeks to
expose cruelty, promote the rights of other animals and abolish their institutionalised
exploitation by humans. This is achieved through public education focussed primarily on the
promotion of veganism.
ANIMAL RIGHTS ADVOCATES
2. WHAT IS ANIMAL RIGHTS?
The concept of animal rights is simple. Like us, animals are sentient. They
experience a range of sensations and emotions, and perceive the world around
them. The most basic right of a sentient being, whether they are human or any other
animal, is the right to be free, that is, not to be someone else’s property. Being the
property of another means someone is treated as a resource; their only value is that
which their owner places on them. The animals we use for food, clothing and
entertainment are considered property, nothing more.
Being property means that animals are tortured and killed in the name of profit –
imprisoned and mutilated on farms, exploited in zoos, circuses and rodeos or
poisoned for a new detergent or mascara. The economic interests of the property
owner always outweighs the interests of the property, even when this interest is to
avoid suffering, to be free from exploitation or even, simply, to live. As long as other
animals are considered property both in law and mainstream opinion, they will never
be free from exploitation. Just as we oppose the exploitation of humans, ARA
opposes the exploitation of other animals.
WHAT DOES ARA DO?
ARA educates people about animal rights and helps them to put animal rights into
practise by adopting a vegan lifestyle. ARA offers workshops on vegan nutrition,
and the links between animal exploitation and other social justice or environmental
issues. ARA’s‘Guide to Being Vegan in Perth’www.veganperth.org.au contains a list of
places to eat, shop, socialise and promote animals rights in Perth, as well as reasons
for going vegan and tips for the transition to becoming vegan.
ARA’s Vegan Mentoring Program is designed to make life easier for vegans and
aspiring vegans. Email mentor@ara.org.au for advice on going vegan. It supports
different areas of vegan life, including health information, details of vegan-friendly
restaurants, products and shops, and contacts for vegan-friendly social groups. ARA
also has a range of vegan recipe cards available to get you started in the kitchen.
ARA regularly conducts outreach at community events to provide public education
and opportunities to engage with animal rights issues. ARA has made an impact at
universities with the establishment of the Curtin Animal Rights Advocates club at
Curtin University and stalls and other activities at Murdoch University. ARA also hosts
the annual Sentience Art Exhibition www.sentience.org.au and Cruelty Free Festival
www.crueltyfreefestivalwa.org.au, which promote animal rights and social justice to a
broad audience.
3. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ANIMALS RIGHT NOW?
1. GO VEGAN
The most important step anyone can take to end animal exploitation is to stop
participating in it by choosing a vegan lifestyle. Refusing to support industries
that exploit animals is a way to apply your anti-cruelty principles to your life’s
practices. It helps to reduce the demand for the animal exploitation involved in
food, clothing and other products. Veganism also sends the important message
to others that animal exploitation is unacceptable and unnecessary for a full
and healthy life. You can find information on being vegan in Western Australia
at www.veganperth.org.au. There are a number of other actions below that
help animals and are consistent with a vegan lifestyle.
2. SUPPORT CRUELTY FREE HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS
Purchase products that have not been tested on animals and do not use animal
ingredients. Experiments to test household products and cosmetics on animals
and the use of animal ingredients in these products is cruel and unnecessary.
Many companies have stopped testing products on animals. Cruelty-free
products are widely available. See www.veganperth.org.au for a list of some of
the many cruelty- free household products available in Perth.
3. ADOPT RATHER THAN SUPPORT BREEDING
While the very notion of breeding other animals to be entirely dependent on
humans should be challenged, we have a responsibility to take care of
animals we have already brought into existence. If you’re able to have animals
as companions, adopt from a shelter rather than supporting pet shops or
breeders. Buying animals from pet shops or breeders or breeding companion
animals yourself contributes to the 130 000 homeless dogs and 60 000
homeless cats that die annually in Australian pounds. Adopting potentially
saves someone from death or life spent in a shelter.
4. CHOOSE NON-EXPLOITATIVE ENTERTAINMENT
Keeping animals for human entertainment places our comparatively trivial
entertainment interests above fundamental animal interests. While their
natural environment might offer them entire jungles or oceans, captive animals
are kept in cages, in tanks, in pens or in chains. Boycott zoos, circuses, and other
forms of animal-based entertainment. There are many other non-exploitative
forms of entertainment, and more meaningful and educational ways to interact
with and learn about other animals.
4. HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT ARA
ARA relies on public donations and the
hard work of our volunteers. As we have
no paid staff you can be assured that any
donation no matter how big or small will
go entirely into campaigns and actions,
rather than to staff salaries and other
administrative costs. ARA is the only
non-profit organisation in Perth that
consistently promotes animal rights and
veganism and as such it is vital that we
continue to educate, inform and
create positive change for animals.
The great thing about becoming a
supporter is that you don’t simply need
to send money and then hope it is doing
some good. We want you to get involved
and help put your money to good use
through volunteering in any capacity that
you can. For volunteer opportunities or
further information about ARA, please
contact info@ara.org.au.
