7. Built-in apps -
You can read an email, flag it, mark it as read or unread, or delete
it. Choosing from a list of preset or customised replies. Or to
write a longer message, use Handoff to continue on your iPhone.
Control the music on your iPhone. Or leave your iPhone at home
and listen to your favourite synced playlist right from Apple
Watch using wireless Bluetooth headphones.
8. See who’s calling without having to reach for your iPhone. Use the built-in speaker and
microphone for quick chats, or instantly transfer calls to your iPhone for longer
conversations. To mute an incoming call, just cover Apple Watch with your hand.
Apple Watch gives you a gentle tap to let you know when you have a new message.
See who it’s from and to read the full message. Respond with a preset message,
dictate a reply or record an audio message.
See what’s next in your day or week. Apple Watch sends you meeting reminders that
appear on your watch face. When you get calendar invitations, you can accept or
decline immediately and even email the organizer using preset responses.
9. You can do with Siri — if not more — and in less time.
Siri works in the main Home screen mode. So, you don’t need to open an app first, to enable Siri
app — just lift your wrist and speak - “Hey, Siri” , without having to press the Digital Crown button.
Alternatively, you can press and hold the Digital Crown button to activate Siri.
To work at Siri, say “Hey, Siri,” followed by your question or command. Like as-
“Hey Siri, open the Workout app.”
“Hey Siri, where’s the nearest coffee shop?”
“Hey Siri, call Elizabeth.”
“Hey Siri, Text Julie and Frank ‘Where are you guys?’”
Open the Workout app, then choose one of popular workouts options.
You can set a Calorie, Distance, or Time goal. Your Apple Watch will alert you when you reach your
goal.
Workout app uses a heart rate sensor and GPS.
For GPS accuracy when you walk, run, or cycle outdoors, select the appropriate Workout and bring
your iPhone. This will also help calibrate the accelerometer in Apple Watch for times when you
don’t have GPS, such as during workouts or when you're running outside without your phone.
10. Get directions from your current location. Apple Watch shows you the best route. You
can also use Siri to search for nearby restaurants, petrol stations and shops.
With Apple Watch, your favourite photos are always close at hand. Use the
Digital Crown to zoom in to individual images, or swipe to browse through them one
at a time.
Apple Watch can be a viewfinder for the iSight camera on your iPhone. So you can take
a perfect selfie or join the group shot. See a live preview of what your iPhone sees,
then snap the photo or set the timer on the camera.
11. Apple Watch lets you manage, label and edit multiple alarms with ease. Use the Digital
Crown to set your wake-up time, or simply ask Siri.
Apple Watch presents this popular watch function in digital, analogue or hybrid view.
There’s also a graph view, which charts a real-time average of your lap times —
something you won’t find on other watches.
Keep track of timed events precisely and easily. As the timer runs, an orange line
moves round the dial, giving you a visual sense of how much time has passed and how
much is left.
12. Check the weather where you are or for any location around the world. See a detailed
report for the day or get the week’s forecast. The day’s conditions are arranged like a
watch face, so you get a quick visual snapshot of the weather for the whole day.
Wallet lets you keep your boarding passes, tickets and loyalty cards on your wrist, and
alerts you when it’s time to use them.
Don’t worry about losing the remote. Now you can control Apple TV straight from your
wrist. Swipe around the main menu, scroll through lists and choose what you’d like to
watch.
13. Doing business in another time zone? With one look, you can check the time in different
cities around the globe. You can add new locations from your iPhone at any time.
Enable or disable Airplane mode, Bluetooth and Do Not Disturb. You can also turn
mute on or off, and even ping your iPhone when you’ve misplaced it.
Easily keep up with the stock market. See current prices, point and percentage changes,
and market cap. Each stock features a graph view that lets you track its performance over
the past day, week, month or six months.
14. Activity
The Move ring
shows how many
active calories
you've burned so
far.
The Exercise ring
shows how many
minutes of brisk
activity you've
completed so far.
The Stand ring
shows hours in
which you've stood
and moved for at
least a minute.
o If you need both hands while walking, for example to push a stroller, you can still earn
Exercise credit by using the Workout app. The Activity app relies on arm motion and an
accelerometer to track movement.
Activity can automatically track your daily movements. You can check your progress, meet
goals, and customize notifications.
15. Simply hold the connector near the back of the watch, where magnets cause it
to snap into place automatically.
How to charge your Apple Watch
16. Apple Watch is charged by means of inductive charging, using a cable.
Apple rates the device's battery for 18 hours of mixed usage.
If the watch's battery depletes to less than 10%, the watch will enter a
"power reserve" mode, which allows the user to continue to read the
time for an additional 72 hours.
The watch then reverts to its original mode when recharged.
17. Components
• A plastic tool is used to remove the device’s
lithium-ion battery.
• The display is carefully removed.
18. • The Taptic Engine is the tiny motor that provides
force feedback whenever the watchface is
pressed or when the user receives a notification.
• We see that it is attached to the Apple Watch’s
speaker.
• This is antenna assembly, which likely controls
the watch’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality.
19. • Apple Watch’s casing is the S1, the integrated
computer chip that gives the device its smarts.
• This is the Digital crown bracket.
20. • At the bottom of the watch case
that component serves as the
Apple Watch’s heart rate
monitor.
• The device may also be able to
measure a user’s blood oxygen
level, but Apple hasn’t promoted
this feature.

• Samsung is said to be the main supplier of key components,
such as the RAM and NAND flash storage, and the assembly
itself.
23. Brilliantly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal
Next to diamond, Sapphire is the hardest transparent material on earth. That makes it ideal for protecting the
Retina display. To harvest the crystal, we use a very thin diamond-cutting wire and polished for many hours to
produce the desired finish.
Sensitive enough to tell a tap from a press
Force Touch uses tiny electrodes around the flexible Retina display to distinguish between a light tap and
a deep press.
24. o When you press two fingers on the screen, the built-in heart
rate sensor records and sends your heartbeat.
o This technology is based on a very simple fact: Blood is red
because it reflects red light and absorbs green light. Apple
Watch uses green LED lights paired with light-sensitive
photodiodes to detect the amount of blood flowing through
your wrist at any given moment. When your heart beats, the
blood flow in your wrist — and the green light absorption —
is greater. Between beats, it’s less.
o By flashing its LED lights hundreds of times per second, Apple
Watch can calculate the number of times the heart beats
each minute — your heart rate.
o The heart rate sensor can also use infrared light.
o Apple Watch attempts to measure your heart rate every 10
minutes.

25. watchOS 2 Preview
New looks of your watch face
• New watch
facesPhoto. Pick a special image from the Photos app on your watch and set it as
your watch face.
Photo Album. Every time you raise your wrist, a different image from your
any photo album you select, will appear on your watch face.
Time-Lapse. Choose from a selection of dazzling time-lapse videos shot over
24 hours in iconic locations around the world.
• More ways to customize your complications
Complications are important pieces of information you can see right on your
watch face, like your Activity rings or upcoming Calendar events. So you can
easily check your United flight times or keep eye on your battery charge.
26. • See your future with Time Travel.
A new feature in watchOS 2, you can turn the Digital Crown to see what’s
happening — and what’s already happened — yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
You can see what the weather will be like for your lunch date tomorrow. Check
your schedule for later today. A press of the Digital Crown gets you back to the
current time.
• Put your watch into Nightstand mode.
Now you can use your watch even when you’re done wearing it for the day. Just
connect the charger. Apple Watch will automatically go into Nightstand mode, a
digital display that illuminates whenever you touch the screen, the Digital Crown,
or the side button.
When an alarm sounds, you press the side button to turn it off, or the
Digital Crown to snooze.
27. Faster, more powerful apps.
• Apps now run natively for
better performance.
With watchOS 2, many apps are native apps, which means they run
entirely on your Apple Watch. So they load more quickly and have
even greater capabilities.
• Do even more with apps.
Apple Watch apps have more possibilities with watchOS 2. Apps can now
take advantage of features like the Taptic Engine, Digital Crown,
accelerometer, heart rate sensor, speaker, and microphone. For example,
the Ping app uses the accelerometer to measure the speed of your golf
swing. Strava uses the heart rate sensor to gather and display data during
workouts.
28. • Reply to email.
Apple Watch already lets you receive email on your wrist. With watchOS 2, you can
respond, too. Just tap Reply at the bottom of a message. Then dictate a response,
or choose from a list of relevant, preset replies.
• Send more colorful sketches.
Digital Touch lets you draw and send sketches to other Apple Watch wearers.
And now you can express yourself in multiple colors, so you can get more
creative with your digital art.
• Ask Siri to do more for you.
With watchOS 2, Siri is an even more versatile personal assistant. Now you can use
your voice to do things like start a specific workout, check your Glances, get transit
information, look up a word in the dictionary, and calculate a tip.
Familiar apps with new functions.
29. • Add more friends.
WatchOS 2 lets you add multiple Friends screens, each of which can hold
up to 12 contacts. And you can add a friend from your contacts directly
on your watch. You can also use the Apple Watch app on your iPhone to
organize your friends into groups you name yourself.
• Get public transport information on
your wrist.
When it comes to directions, Maps shows you the best route from your
current location. watchOS 2 adds Transit, so you can combine more kinds
of transportation in a single trip. In select cities around the world, you’ll
see detailed maps and accurate train, metro and bus timetable. And you’ll
get walking directions to and from your stop.
30. Protect your watch with Activation Lock.
WatchOS 2 includes Activation Lock, a new security
feature. Activating your watch requires your iCloud
Apple ID and password, so in the event that your
Apple Watch is lost or stolen, your information
remains safe.
New opportunities for developers.
If you’re a developer, WatchKit for watchOS 2 allow you to access the unique
features and innovations of Apple Watch. So you’ll be able to create apps that
are truly designed for the wrist.
31. Rather Slow.
Apple Watch doesn’t work as fast as you’d like it to. It is rather slow in importing data from your iPhone via
Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. There are times; it takes a lot of time in loading third-party apps. On some occasions, it
seems to have got stuck in loading notifications.
Merely 75 MB of Photos Storage.
You can store tons of your favorite photos on your iPhone or iCloud and save your precious Apple Watch
from being cluttered for space, but having merely 75 MB storage for photos doesn’t make any good
impression at all. Apple Watch has total 8GB of internal storage out of which there is only 2GB of storage for
music. No matter which model you choose, the watch has the same storage capacity.
Apple Watch Price Is Ridiculous High.
Apple Watch's price is way higher than we were expecting to pay. The price for Apple Watch starts at $349
and goes up to $17,000. The differences in Apple Watch prices are down to the metal and glass of the
watch.
32. Battery Barely Lasts a Full Day.
Apple Watch’s battery would hardly last a full day after an extensive use. A look at the early reviews that
have come from many experts suggest you that you would have to hunt for power source more often to
keep your watch charged up.
Too Dependent On iPhone.
Apple Watch doesn’t have its own GPS technology, it would heavily rely on iPhone to assist it in carrying out
many functions like sending message, or making a call. What if you have forgotten to take your iPhone
along, wouldn’t it make the watch handicap?
Still More of a Fashionable Stuff.
Your iPhone can do almost all the activities that an Apple Watch can do. So, why go for this ultra-expensive
watch just for the sake of making a fashion statement?
Not Consistent Enough.
As Apple Watch turns its screen on only when you look at it to see time, there is not much consistency with
this function. Sometimes Apple Watch doesn’t activate its screen even when you tap on it. At times you
have to move your wrist in upward motion, to make it activate its screen.
33. THE GOOD. The Apple Watch is a beautifully constructed, compact smartwatch. It's feature-packed, with solid
fitness software, hundreds of apps, and the ability to send and receive calls via an iPhone.
THE BAD. Battery only lasts a little more than a day; most models and configurations cost more than they
should; requires an iPhone 5 or later to work; interface can be confusing; sometimes slow to communicate
with a paired iPhone.
THE BOTTOM LINE. Apple Watch first-gen shortfalls make it feel more like a fashionable toy than a necessary
tool.
