Thuraia White proposes an app to make it more convenient for NYC commuters to refill metro cards and purchase LIRR tickets. Ethnographic research found commuters find it inconvenient to travel to kiosks to refill cards or buy tickets. The proposed app would allow users to scan metro cards to add funds or purchase LIRR tickets directly from their phone. Competitive research found existing transit apps provide schedules but do not enable refilling cards or ticket purchases like the proposed app.

Nice go mobile: Is a Traveling App for long
island buses. It allows users to buy bus
tickets as well view schedules. Its a very
simple app and I like the way its designed
however it is only for long island buses

tells the users exactly where the bus is
located and how many stops it is away from
him/her. How ever it doesn’t show the user
the bus schedule or allow them to buy
