Un grupo de monjas carmelitas se reunieron en 1972 en una casa alquilada en Chalco, Estado de México, con el objetivo de vivir el carisma de Santa Teresa de acuerdo a las enseñanzas del Concilio Vaticano II. Formaron una comunidad basada en la fraternidad, oración y vida retirada, enfatizando la hermandad y servicio a la Iglesia. Respetaron la pobreza evangélica realizando trabajo para sustento propio en libertad espiritual.
Historia
El convento de San Francisco en la Ciudad de México, fundado en 1525, tenía un área de 32,300 metros cuadrados y limitaba con varias calles importantes. Dentro del convento había varias capillas, incluyendo la Capilla de Aranzazú, la Capilla de Burgos y la Capilla de San Agustín. En 1856, el presidente Comonfort expulsó a los religiosos del convento, aunque regresaron brevemente en 1857, hasta que fueron expulsados de forma permanente en 1860 cuando el convento fue expropiado.
