Wilhelm Marr's 1879 work "The Way to Victory of Germanicism over Judaism" increased hatred against Jews by portraying them as an inferior race waging war on Germany through their involvement in finance and being responsible for economic crashes. Marr coined the term "anti-Semitism" and argued Jews were physically different and could not assimilate, claiming their extermination was scientifically justified. His work kindled existing anti-Jewish sentiment and incited hatred against Jews by depicting them as enemies and offering pseudoscientific reasons to hate them, which later Nazis used to justify genocide.
