Language puts abstract ideas and thoughts into meaningful sentiments. Communication can include a language, but language is only one route of communication. For example, a baby can communicate their needs with crying and pointing, but that is not a language. I think that language as we know it is unique to people. Since there are two parts to language, the indicative and predicative, I think it is safe to say that other species might have some indicative parts to their communication style, but that only people focus on the predicative section. I think we are the only species that are able to talk about abstract ideas such as the future and different hypotheticals. .
