In high school you learn about history, math and all other subjects that are supposed to
help you grow into a better person for the real world and jobs. There are many schools that
have several types of organizations that also help you form into a better person. One of
them being a FCCLA member, or Future Career Community Leaders of America. These
members of FCCLA are a small group of middle and high school students that want to
become better leaders for their community. They learn diverse ways to help grow the
community. There are many types of chapters of FCCLA, and they meet up once a year to
discuss strengths to help the community. There was an interview done with the president at
the local school. With the school's permission. The questions were sent by email and the
information from them was returned promptly. This means this president of the chapter
takes things seriously, which is a good thing since they deal with leading others and a
community.
This topic was chosen because we need to be a believer that kids need leadership
guidance to help when they go into their jobs and start working. This also helps with
meeting new people and being able to connect with someone on a deeper level with the
belief that they can achieve anything they want to. The peers that are also involved with the
organization can also become their friends, which can be a benefit for having someone help
them grow while they grow themselves.This also shows kids a better understanding of life if
something happens there are always consequences to actions.
These set of questions was ask to better understand FCCLA and the function of the
organization. The first question was How do group members view outsiders? The answer
that was given was about how They encourage others to become better in school, the
students do not discriminate against others. They respect their peers, and they sometimes
talk to them about FCCLA, Future Career and Community Leaders of America, so they could
join as well if they want to. This was nice to know that kids can become better people no

2. matter who they are and their background. The next question was What motivates
members to belong? The response to this question was to become more educated so they
can be a better person or leader for their community and environment. They tend to
develop more knowledge and skills they need to help get scholarships and awards.
According to their website they have ceremonies yearly that recognize those that work hard
and have changed things for example back in October they had a project that dealt with kids
being on their phones and driving and what the outcome would look like. They have also
done drinking a driving one year that had also involved the local police department to come
and talk to the students.
The next set of questions dealt with the involvement of students and their teachers.
This was to better understand what each group members job and why they play an
important part of the organization. The questioned asked was, where does the group gather
and why? The answer given was, there is a teacher involved in this group that shares their
room with these students. They have meetings about what is new with the community after
they attend, they national meeting with others and how they can better help themselves for
their roles. This is nice that there is a teacher dedicated to helping these students grow and
learn how to be a better person. The next question was What is the group's social hierarchy,
and how is it organized and maintained? This answer was, there is a teacher that oversees
the group and all the students. Then there is a president that is a student, that oversees the
events and makes sure everyone knows what is going on with the other FCCLA
organizations. There is also a vice president student that helps the president and make sure
all meetings and competitions are scheduled promptly. There is also a treasurer that
handles all the dues and fees that come from the other members. Then there is a Facility
Advisor that is the teacher that makes sure all the students are doing their roles properly.
There is a community service person responsible for making activities and other ideas for
the community. There is a membership person in charge of the recruits and new members
and contently chatting with them, so they feel more welcome. There are some chapters that
do not have a lot of people involved so they do not have many roles in the organization. The
last question that was asked was what is the relationship between this local culture and the
larger culture with which it identifies? There are a lot of people here who want to make a
difference in the world. They set out to find a way to help their communities be able to
function better, and they are a good group of kids that try to better themselves by being
here and learning how to become a leader for themselves and their communities.
Being in an organization like the FCCLA, kids from all over the world in middle and in
high school can learn and grow to become a better person for their community. The kids
learn from others how to be a better leader and show the world what they can do. The kids
do this by learning about different projects to help show the community a better
understanding of situations that they can help stop from happening. There are many
different projects from the FCCLA, such as suicide, drinking and driving. There are
competitions that the kids can do to help get scholarships for college
