Using AWS CloudFormation for AWS Multi-AZ VPC Deployment
This document describes an automated and highly available deployment of a PHP forum application called myBB on AWS using CloudFormation. The infrastructure includes a multi-AZ cluster of auto-scaling web servers behind an ELB, a multi-AZ RDS database, and all resources are deployed within a dedicated VPC. The deployment is designed to be fully configurable, scripted, and provide automated provisioning, updates, deletion and status checks through the command line. Monitoring of all resources is also enabled through CloudWatch.

Migrate AWS EC2 instance to Azure VM using xmigrate
xmigrate is an open-source tool that helps migrate virtual machines (VMs) across cloud platforms or from on-premises to cloud. It currently supports migrating Ubuntu 18.04 VMs to Azure and has been tested for migrating Red Hat VMs between AWS accounts. xmigrate automatically discovers server network and configuration details, creates necessary resources in the target cloud, and initiates the server build without requiring agents on the servers. Future plans include supporting additional operating systems for Azure migration and migrating VMs with multiple disks.

It utilizes a log structured file system, unified management through UCS Manager, policy-based management, and data optimization through deduplication and compression. The HyperFlex system requires a minimum of 3 nodes plus 1 for redundancy, and utilizes SSD caching to improve performance. Each node has a copy of VMs for high availability, and writes are distributed across nodes without moving data over the network during virtual machine migration

Emulators as an Emerging Best Practice for API providers
"Modern applications are highly distributed. We face challenges related to the use of internal and external APIs and how to build APIs with agility in the face of software that can evolve and change at any time. The API industry proposes two common strategies to circumvent these challenges: API Mocking and Service Virtualization. Both have pros and cons.
At Cisco, we came up with the idea of API emulators has a third strategy to handle the challenges we were facing. As a result of our work, we published a reference implementation for Webex ChatBots.
In this talk, we'll explain the motivation behind API emulators in the perspective of DevOps, CI/CD, Software Development, and serverless/microservices architectures. I will elaborate on the idea of integrating emulators as part of an overall API strategy, dive into the process of building such emulators, and validating them with Postman."

"Modern applications are highly distributed. We face challenges related to the use of internal and external APIs and how to build APIs with agility in the face of software that can evolve and change at any time. The API industry proposes two common strategies to circumvent these challenges: API Mocking and Service Virtualization. Both have pros and cons.
At Cisco, we came up with the idea of API emulators has a third strategy to handle the challenges we were facing. As a result of our work, we published a reference implementation for Webex ChatBots.
In this talk, we'll explain the motivation behind API emulators in the perspective of DevOps, CI/CD, Software Development, and serverless/microservices architectures. I will elaborate on the idea of integrating emulators as part of an overall API strategy, dive into the process of building such emulators, and validating them with Postman."

VMware AppCatalyst is a lightweight desktop hypervisor for Mac that provides a drop-in replacement for VirtualBox in Docker Machine and Vagrant. It comes with Photon OS, a container-optimized Linux distribution built by VMware for cloud-native applications. AppCatalyst exposes a REST API and CLI for seamless integration with container workflows. It also includes Vagrant integration out of the box to support using Vagrant and Photon OS VMs. Photon OS is optimized for running containers and provides a secure container runtime with updates from VMware.

As Trino users increasingly rely on cloud object storage for retrieving data, speed and cloud cost have become major challenges. The separation of compute and storage creates latency challenges when querying datasets; scanning data between storage and compute tiers becomes I/O bound. On the other hand, cloud API costs related to GET/LIST operations and cross-region data transfer add up quickly.
The newly introduced Trino file system cache by Alluxio aims to overcome the above challenges. In this session, Jianjian will dive into Trino data caching strategies, the latest test results, and discuss the multi-level caching architecture. This architecture makes Trino 10x faster for data lakes of any scale, from GB to EB.
