     “Rejected by humans
     - chosen by God”
ISAIAH 28:16
16 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
            “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
              a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
            the one who relies on it
              will never be stricken with panic.
17 I will make justice the measuring line

    and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie,
    and water will overflow your hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled;

    your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand.
When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
    you will be beaten down by it.
19 As often as it comes it will carry you away;

    morning after morning, by day and by night,
    it will sweep through.”
PSALM 118:22
21 I  will give you thanks, for you answered me;
     you have become my salvation.

22 The stone the builders rejected
      has become the cornerstone;
23 the LORD has done this,
   and it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 The LORD has done it this very day;

   let us rejoice today and be glad.
LUKE 20: 9-19
“What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come
and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.”
When the people heard this, they said, “God forbid!”
17 Jesus looked directly at them and asked, “Then what is the meaning
of that which is written:
“„The stone the builders rejected
   has become the cornerstone‟?
18 Everyonewho falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but
anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
19 The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to
arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this
parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.
ACTS 4:8-12
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and
elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an
act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked
how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel:
It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but
whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you
healed. 11 Jesus is
“„the stone you builders rejected,
   which has become the cornerstone.‟
12 Salvation
           is found in no one else, for there is no other name given
under heaven by which we must be saved.”
ISAIAH 8:14
12 “Do not call conspiracy
   everything this people calls a conspiracy;
do not fear what they fear,
   and do not dread it.
13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as

holy,
   he is the one you are to fear,
   he is the one you are to dread.
14 He will be a holy place;

   for both houses of Israel he will be
a stone that causes people to stumble
   and a rock that makes them fall.
And for the people of Jerusalem he will be
   a trap and a snare.
15 Many of them will stumble;

   they will fall and be broken,
   they will be snared and captured.”
