The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament in the Catholic Church where a priest anoints a sick or elderly person with blessed oil. It provides forgiveness of sins, comfort, and sometimes physical healing. Anyone with a serious illness can receive the sacrament, not just those near death. During the rite, the priest rubs blessed olive oil on the person's forehead and says special prayers, asking God to restore health and spirit and prepare the person for life with Christ.
