7. • ‘Twas an eventful weekend for the Senior Boys Basketball team as we
traveled to Bracebridge for a tournament. That’s not to say it was
successful by any means, but we tried. The team composed of only 4
committed Seniors, 3 Juniors, and one Coach Clay who was there to
support the boys after almost a year off. Our first game was a blowout, to
which we were on the receiving end, but despite 2 of our seniors not
showing up, the next 2 games were much closer. We led our second game
multiple times, but due to a lack of experience on the higher end of the
scoreboard, we blew it. Because of our unfortunate loss, we were forced
to play early the next morning, which was unlucky considering coach didn’t
book the hotel. Our third game was almost as winnable as the second,
where we had a lead once again in the fourth quarter; but somewhat
reminiscent of our previous game, it slipped away from us. Great Job to
Peter, who splashed 9 threes over the course of the weekend, Jonny who
made a half-court buzzer-beater, Jim who locked down the key on defense,
Zach who beasted the boards, and Caleb, Quinn, and Evan for playing very
well despite playing above their age level.
• A special thanks to Coach Clay for coming out with the soccer-mom van,
and Coach Tony for putting up with us and organizing the whole weekend
for us.
