This is my third annotation of a world tour poster, created as part of my A2 Media Coursework.

The term ‘rapture’ is
affiliated with religious
imagery in Christianity (the
belief in Jesus’s second
coming). By usingthe term
‘rapture’, Eminem may be
inferringreligious
connotations about his
‘return’. Religious imagery
has often been affiliated with
rap music and so Eminem is
usinga convention to
promote his tour.
This is the tagline for the tour. “Guess
who’s back.” Is a reference that
Eminem has used in his songs to refer
to “SlimShady”, his alter ego,
returning. This taglineis used for
brand identity, sinceitis more often
than not traced back to Eminem, his
audience would immediately
understand whose tour this is. “Guess
who’s back” also accompanies the
religious idea of Rapture – sinceithas
implications of the return of the
religious entity – in this context
Eminem is said entity.
The white and black
background may be perceived
as a rap convention. Rap has
often been perceived to make
use of dull colours becausethe
several themes it portrays in its
music.So by usingthis,Eminem
is perhaps showingaudiences,
who may not be familiarto
Eminem that he is a rap artist.
The font of the poster is
bold and in upper case
letters to perhaps signify
the powerful effect that
rap songs have on
audiences. This may give
them an insightregarding
what type of a
performance they would
get.
The font colour is both
black,white and red. The
black and white colours
have affiliation with the
genre of rap. The red
colour may be used as an
aesthetic, to add
brightness to the poster so
that audiences would be
ableto be attracted by the
poster’s aesthetic.
An image of Eminem is present
for the purposes of brand
identity; it may be implicated that
by usingthe image, Eminem is
commuting to audiences, who
may know him by his looks. The
close-up shotalso reveals a chain
around his neck and a thick top;
the top looks to be very thick in
fabric and this could mean that
the clothingitem is a hoodie.The
hoodie is often noted as a
standard convention of rap.
