ANGLE BETWEEN
TWO CURVE
Reporters:
Albarida, Samantha Klier A.
Torbiso, Ailyn Segundino
OBJECTIVES:
• Understand the Concept – Define and explain what the
angle between two curves means in simple terms.
• Describe how the angle between two curves is
determined using the tangents at the point of
intersection.
• Demonstrate how to calculate the angle between two
curves using given equations and derivative.
The angle between curves at a point of intersection
may be defined as the angle between their tangents at
this point of intersection. If the tangents are not
perpendicular to each other, then such tangents form
a pair of acute angles and a pair of obtuse angles. The
acute and obtuse angle are supplementary.
ANGLE BETWEEN TWO CURVE
FORMULA
Note: m1 and m2 are the slope
STEPS TO FIND THE ANGLE
1.Find the Intersection Point
2.Find the derivatives (Slopes)
3.Calculate the Angle using the Formula
EXAMPLES :
1. y = x³ + x - 8 and y = x
2. y=x⁵ and y=x²-5x
