Dosage calculation for Animal Anesthetization

1. Anaesthetization Protocol (Dosage)
In case of Chloral hydrate chemical
Its safe and effective dosage is 300 mg/Kg
300 mg = 1000 g
Considering the weight of mice that is 36 g
So the equation will be
300/1000 mg= 1 g
300/1000*36 = 36 g
10.8 mg (Answer 1)
Now for volume to consider
As 50 mg/1 ml (Dissolution of Chloral hydrate in distilled water) It is taken as Stock
50 mg = 1000 ul
For 36 g mice, the mg to be considered is obtained in Answer 1
1 mg = 1000/50 ul
10.8 mg = 10.8*1000/50 = 216 ul (Answer 2) (0.216 ml in Syringe)
