Purpose Of Position :
Reporting to the NBHS/HKHS Security Manager, The Security Supervisor oversees
the day to day Security Operations of the site of responsibility within Northern
Sydney Local Health District.
This position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Site Security
Roster.
The incumbent will continue to support quality initiatives within Security Services
aimed at ensuring facilities within the Health Service meet EQuIP standards and
accreditation requirements and will conduct independent audit functions for Security
Services as required.
Manage services and staff for the site of responsibility to ensure affective
Utilisation of available financial, physical and human resources
Assist in the development of Security Services initiatives, strategies, policies
and business plans.
Key Accountabilities :
Liaise with other Site Supervisors, Operations and other staff to enable
effective and efficient services to operate across all sites
Make recommendations for changes to practices, policies and procedures
aimed at improving Security Services at a site level
Undertake CCTV, Access Control, ID and Key Management duties required
within level of authority and access privileges
Assist in relation to Human Resource issues such as Performance Management
and NSW Health Code of Conduct
Anticipate and resolve problems in an environment where new problems and
issues are frequently arising and require addressing and prioritising of
competing demands
Provide advice to staff and external stakeholders in relation to Security
Services
Liaise with staff, unions and Human resources Departments as appropriate to
resolve staff/workforce issues
Balance Operational issues with long term objectives
Travel to all sites within the Health Service of responsibility or elsewhere as is
necessary to meet the requirements of the position.
Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory requirements and relevant
policies, practices and procedures, particularly, the NSW Security Industry Act
Ensure the total health care needs and expectations of clients, clinicians, staff
and visitors are meet by providing and maintaining a high level of standard in
the Security Services unit
Comply with directives from the Manager Security Services NBHS/HKHS
Co-operate with other staff members to ensure that duty requirements and
standards are met end maintained
Perform all reasonable tasks delegated to the best of your ability within the
award provisions and in line with your grading and capabilities
Provide advice, technical support, information and reports to the Security
Manager, Corporate Services Manager, Department Heads and Executive
Manage staff to achieve all allocated accountabilities according to specific
timeframes, standards, organisational policies and legislative requirements
Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with all Human resources and other
obligations pertaining to their role
Provide advice with respect to policy compliance relating to Security and Risk

Management
Contribute to the development and review of Security Policies for the LHD and
Health Service, including providing support and advice to other facilities
Conduct Tier 1 & 2 Risk Assessments
Participate in the Management of the Security response within the LHD and
Health Service in the event of a major incident involving the critical
infrastructure of Sydney
Collect and collate data to support the production of monthly KPI reports for
the health Service
Provide advice and implement systems and reports to support EQuIP and
Facility Accreditation
Support the management of the Key Systems
Provide advice to facilities on strategies to protect assets, staff, visitors and
clients
Contribute to the effective communication of Health Service Security
Information in a timely, clear and concise manner
Provide advice to Health Service facilities on risk minimisation strategies
Contribute to the risk management framework for Corporate Services related
risks within the Health Service
Liaise with NSW Police and New South Wales Fire & rescue with respect to
Health Service level issues
Challenges/Problem
Solving :
Participate in the transfer of day to day Security Services to Facility level,
including supporting the identification and management of risk
Achieve reportable deadlines and milestones in a high pressure
environment with a wide range of stakeholders, often with competing needs
and priorities
Provide Security Systems advice in relation to aging infrastructure
Supervise daily staff activities and resources for the Site / Health
Service. Maintaining the Site/Health Service Security Service Roster, coordinating
staff absence coverage due to leave etc. to ensure the seamless
delivery of Security Services 24/7 across the Site/Health Service
Ensure that assets, equipment and resources for Security Services unit are
identified, maintained and used by appropriately trained and qualified staff
Develop principles for the allocation of Relief Staff and Overtime to Sites to
ensure fairness, equality and transparency
Maintain Quality systems across Security Services and assist with the transfer
to the Health Service.
Communication :
INTERNAL
Internally, this position confers with Senior Managers and staff within the Corporate
Services, members of the Health Service Executive, the Business Improvement Unit
and Senior Managers within the Health Service
EXTERNAL
Externally the incumbent liaises with member of the NSW Police, NSW Fire &
Rescue,
Health Share, Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers and colleagues within other Health
Services and LHD's

Decision Making :
The Security Supervisor is accountable for the provision of strategic advice and
the achievement of work priorities.
The position holder is expected to operate with minimal supervision whilst
demonstrating Leadership and Sound judgement in managing allocated
projects/tasks.
Under the direction of the Security Manager NBHS/HKHS, the Security
Supervisor makes key decisions relating to models, strategies, plans and
policies that guide the direction of Security and risk Management within the
Health Service / LHD.
Extensive experience in supervising staff in a Health related environment
NSW Security Licence and Work cover approved First Aid.
Experience in the use of Microsoft EXCEL, Word and Access. Also skills and
experience in the use of Electronic Security Systems.
High Level communication and interpersonal skills including report writing and
generation and the ability to consult with stakeholders at all levels
Understanding of the Quality Management Systems, including EQuIP as applicable to
Security within the Health Environment
