3. CHILDHOOD
Andrew Carnegie was born in Scotland on 25 November, 1835, But he moved to
America at young age with his poor parents.
His father name was William Carnegie and mother Margaret Morrison .
At age of 13, he worked for a telegraph company and a textile mill but soon after , he
started working for Pennsylvania railroad .
By the age of 17, he was already the supritendent of PA railroad .
4. CLIMBING THE TRAIN
Andrew used fresh ideas to cut costs and increase profits.
Burning train cars instead of salvaging.
Bigger, stronger, longer trains capable of carrying larger loads.
5. IRON AND RAILROADS- THE
BESSEMER PROCESS
The Bessemer process is a way to mass
produse steel .
Though Carnegie did’t discover the Bessemer
process, but he used it to become the largest
steel producer in U.S.A
6. Andrew’s new company
Carnegie put the majority of his money
towards public benefit.
“To hasten the abolition of war “
Carnegie donated 10 million to
Washington to be put towards complete
abolition of war.
He built a total of 1,697 libraries across
the U.S.A, all totaling 56 million dolars
Philanthrophy
With his knowledge of the
beessember process, Carnegie
started his own steel company.
By 1990, Carnegie was back in
Scotland, and his company
waswas one pf the llargest in the
world.
7. LIFE AFTER BIG BUSINESS
He sold the company for 480 millions to his competitor JP Morgan.
He dedicated his rest of his life to philanthropy until august 11, 1919.
He said “A man who dies rich, dies in ashame.
By then he was the richest man in the world.
