Andrea Fuentes was a Spanish synchronized swimmer who was captain of the Spanish team and had earned more Olympic medals than any other Spanish athlete. She announced her retirement in 2013 after 20 years competing in synchronized swimming. During her career from 2008-2012, she won 3 Olympic silver medals, 6 world championship silver medals and 1 world championship gold medal, along with 6 European championship silver medals and 5 European championship gold medals. Her favorite performance was a duet with Ona Carbonell that mixed synchronized swimming with tango elements, which won gold at the European championships in Eindhoven and earned them a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
