6 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze medals won total of 12 medals in London 1948 Olympic

2016 Summer Olympics were in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Many cities became candidate
for the organisation. But Rio de Janeiro won. That Olympics became first Olympics in
South America.

Approximately 12.500 athletes join the 2016 Summer Olympics from 205 different
countries.

Mete Gazoz was the youngest athlete of Turkey in 2016 Summer Olympics(17).

Turkey sent 27 athletes for athletics of 2016 Summer Olympics.
Polat Kemboi Arıkan took the thirteenth place at Men’s 10.000 Metres Finals.
Ramil Guliyev took the eighth place at Men’s 200 Metres Finals.
Yasmani Copello took third place at Men’s 400 Metres Hurdles Finals and he won
bronze medal.
Yasemin Can took the sixth place at Women’s 5.000 Metres Finals and she took the
seventh place at Women’s 10.000 Metres.
Other Athletes didn’t make it to the final round.
12. Boxing
Turkey sent 6 boxers for Olympics. Onur Şipal became the first boxer to be selected
to the from Olympic Team with special invite.
However none of them didn’t win medal.

Turkey has qualified one badminton player for the Women’s single.

Turkey women’s basketball team qualified for the Olympics with quarterfinal victory at
the 2016 World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in France.

Lasma Liepa raced in two categories but she eliminated at semifinals

in Rio de Janeiro.

Hüseyin Kandemir and Cem Yılmaz took the sixteenth place.

Turkey sent four swimmers for Olympics.
Nezir Karap, Ekaterina Avramova, Nida Eliz Üstündağ eliminated at Qualification.
Zeynep Güneş raced in three categories. She eliminated at Qualification in the one of
her categories. She eliminated at semifinal in the other two categories.

Turkey sent 2 table tennis players for Olympics.
Ahmet Li eliminated at Round 2 against Wang(China) with 0-4 score
Melek Hu eliminated at Round 3 against Chen(Taipei) with 0-4 score

Turkey sent two athletes for Olympics.
Servet Tazegül played Repechage match but he lost and eliminated after lost
Denisenko(Russia) with 6-19 score.
Nur Tatar played Repechage match against Chuang(Taipei) and she won bronze
medal with 7-3 score after she lost against Niare(France) with 0-4 score.
28. Tennis
Turkey sent one tennis player for Olympics fort he first time in Olympic History.
Çağla Büyükakçay eliminated round of 64 against Makarova(Russia) with 1-2 score.
29. Weightlifting
Turkey sent four weighlifters for Olympics.
Mehtap Kurnaz, Duygu Arabacı and Assiya İpek took 12.-13. place.
Daniyar İsmayilov took the second place and he won silver medal.
30. Wrestling
Turkey sent 14 wrestlers for Olympics.
Cenk İldem and Soner Demirtaş won bronze medal.
Selim Yaşar and Rıza Kayaalp won silver medal.
Taha Akgül won gold medal.
