The document discusses the design choices for a horror movie poster and magazine cover promoting the movie. For the poster, a blank background was chosen to make the image and text stand out, and fonts were selected based on audience feedback that they fit the plot and genre. The main character's image will be featured prominently. For the magazine cover, a black background was chosen to make information legible across genres, and the main character's close-up image will introduce her to readers. Conventions from other posters and magazines, like using slogans, billing blocks, and barcodes, are considered.
The document discusses potential locations, props, and costumes for a horror film trailer. It examines 6 interior and exterior locations in a family home that could be used, including the living room, a child's bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and garden. It then outlines 4 props that may appear, such as a pen used to write disturbing messages and a teddy bear connected to the main character. Finally, it describes the planned costumes for the 3 main characters - the father, mother, and young girl - and how their appearances establish roles and foreshadow changes in the girl's behavior as the trailer progresses.
The document summarizes the results of a questionnaire sent to a target audience about choosing fonts for different elements of a film magazine. For the magazine title/masthead, the majority chose a font that is not too conventional to one genre and uses a black background to draw readers in. For the cover lines, the majority chose a simple, easy to read font that appears bold and will stand out without giving too much away. The document discusses why various fonts were or were not chosen for each element.
The document provides casting and blocking information for a film. It includes the name of the film and main character Beth holding a teddy bear while staring at a crumpled note on the floor. The image takes up most of the page and shows Beth standing to the side with a dull background as she holds the teddy and looks at the note.
The production plan outlines the dates for test footage, location scouting, test shots, and casting photos in late September and early October 2014. The main locations are the outside and inside of the family house. Props like a teddy bear, note, and vase will be used to establish the horror genre. Costumes will start as normal clothes but get torn and dirty to increase tension. The cast includes Bethany Munden as the 10-year old main character, Lewis Jupp as her 17-year old father, and Amy Jane Wilson as her 17-year old mother. Equipment includes a camera, tripod, and editing software.
A family moves into a new home and the young daughter Beth finds a mysterious note addressed to her. Strange events begin occurring, with Beth's teddy bear being damaged and notes appearing around the house. Beth starts to act possessed and violently, destroying parts of the home. Her mother is distraught, wondering what went wrong with Beth.
The document discusses pitching a horror film idea to Time Warner. It proposes that Time Warner would be a suitable partner due to their success with the genre. The target audience for the film is described as males and females aged 16-20 primarily, but with interest from other age groups as well. Conventions of horror film genre and trailers are examined, including shot types, lighting, sound, and limited dialogue in trailers. An idea for the film is presented, involving a family moving into a haunted new home, with elements like costume, props, characters and lighting planned to inspire fear. The pitch explains how conventions will be used, such as setting, sound effects and editing techniques, to make an appealing trailer for the intended audience
The document describes 111 shots from a music video. The shots include wide shots, mid shots, close ups, and more. Many shots focus on the main female artist singing and dancing. Special effects are used in some shots to make characters appear doubled. Other shots show characters dancing, in a truck, playing instruments, and more to tell the story and energy of the video.
This document contains a shot list and descriptions for a film trailer. It includes 92 shots that set up scenes, establish locations, introduce characters, and build tension. Key shots show a family moving to a new home, strange events occurring, characters experiencing fear and panic, and a disturbing figure threatening the family's safety. The trailer uses a variety of camera techniques and shots to tease the film's storyline about unknown danger and hell being unleashed for the family in their new home.
Horror films have evolved over time, beginning with early films from the 1890s-1920s that influenced later American films, through a 'golden age' in the 1930s and the introduction of comedy horrors in the 1940s. Influences like the Cold War led to different gimmicks being used from the 1950s onward, with boundaries being increasingly pushed in terms of graphic violence and sexuality from the 1960s-1970s. Key conventions of the genre include isolated settings, unsettling camerawork and editing, incorporation of sounds to create tension, and visual elements in mise-en-scene like dark clothing and makeup.
Horror films have evolved over time, beginning with early films from the 1890s-1920s that influenced later American films, through periods like the 'Golden Age of Monster Movies' in the 1930s and the introduction of comedy horrors in the 1940s. Key developments included more graphic violence and sexuality in the 1960s-70s and a focus on slasher films in the early 1980s. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
