2. rainforests Although rainforests cover only about 0.3 % of Australia, they contain about half of all Australian plant families and about a third of Australia's mammal and bird species. Australia’s natural rainforests are the same like Chinas rainforests with the same levels of foliage e.g.: Emergent: Giant trees that are much higher than the average canopy height. It houses many birds and insects. Canopy: The upper parts of the trees. This leafy environment is full of life in a tropical rainforest and includes: insects, birds, reptiles, mammals, and more. Understory: A dark, cool environment under the leaves but over the ground. Forest floor : Teeming with animal life, especially insects. The largest animals in the rainforest generally live here. Gondwana Rainforests of Australia are located in South East Queensland, the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia include the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world with large areas of warm temperate rainforest. But unlike China’s rainforests there are many indigenous groups of people who have live in the tropical rainforests like the Kuku Yulanji. They have lived in scattered villages in the rainforests for hundreds or thousands of years. These tribes get their food, clothing, and housing mainly from materials they obtain in the forest

The 3 levels of parliament Australia is a democracy Federal: The decision-making body of the Federal Government is Federal Parliament, which consists of two houses - the House of Representatives and the Senate. There are 150 Members of the House of Representatives and each member represents a separate division or electorate. The leader of the Federal Government is called the Prime Minister. responsibilities include: foreign affairs, social security, industrial relations, trade, immigration, currency and defence. State: The decision making body of State Government is the State Parliament which meets in the Parliament House of the particular State. Each State Parliament, except for the Queensland Parliament, is made up of two houses. The leader of a State Government is called the Premier. The leader of each Territory Government is called the Chief Minister. State and Territory Government responsibilities include justice, consumer affairs, health, education, forestry, public transport and main roads. Local: The decision-making body of local government is usually called the city council or shire council. Councils are established by State Governments to look after the particular needs of a city or local community. The people’s representatives who form the council are called councillors. The head of the council is the mayor Local government responsibilities include: local road maintenance, garbage collection, building regulations and land subdivisions, and public health and recreation facilities such as swimming pools.
