PharmaceuticalsLtd.”.Thisreportiscomprisedof twobroadparts: firstone is Organizationpartand
secondor lastpart is Projectpart.The heartfocusof thisreportis onthe Projectpartand the

Pharmaceutical Ingredients(APIs) inBangladesh.The companyisthe largestexporterof
pharmaceuticalsinthe countryandits state-of-the-artmanufacturingfacilitiesare certifiedbyglobal
regulatorybodiesof Australia,Gulf nations,Brazil,amongothers.The companyisconsistentlybuilding
uponits portfolioandcurrentlyproducingmore than400 productsin differentdosage formscovering
broadertherapeuticcategorieswhichinclude antibiotics,antihypertensives,antidiabetics,
antireretrovirals,anti asthmainhalersetc,amongmanyothers.
The company wasincorporatedin1976 andcommencedoperationsin1980 withthe manufacturingand
marketingof productsof Bayer AG,Germanyand UpjohnInc., USA underlicensing
arrangements.In1983,the companystartedmanufacturingitsownformulationsanditlaunchedexport
operationin1992.
In 2005 BeximcoInfusionsLtd,the companythatproducesintravenousfluids,wasamalgamatedwith
the parentcompany.In the same year it completedthe state-of-the-artoral soliddosage plantin
compliance withthe USFDA and UK MHRA standards,whichhas beenapprovedbymajorglobal
regulatorybodies.
Today BeximcoPharmaisthe largestexporterof pharmaceuticalsinthe countryandthe onlycompany
to winNational ExportTrophy(Gold),the highestnational accolade forexport,forrecordthree times.
The company isthe largestproducerof MeteredDose Inhalers(MDIs) inthe country,and the firstto
produce CFC free inhalers.BPLisalso the firstcompanyto produce anti-retroviral drugs(ARVs) locally

BeximcoPharmahasitsownutilityinfrastructure toensure adequate generationanddistributionof
purifiedwateratall times.The installedcapacityof powergenerationis8MW. There isalsoliquid

Management.So,the scope of my studyis limitedonlytothe compliance of those asfollowedby
BeximcoPharmaceutical Ltd.Inpreparingthe report,Ireview andanalyze the informationpublishedin
the annual reportfor the year 2002-2007. Anychange inInventorypoliciesinrespectof providing
informationafterthisperiodisbeyondthe scope of mystudy.
Objective of the study:

Afteranalysisof differentfinancialperformance measuresand comparingwithotherparticularindustry
BPL financial performanceiscomparativelyhighandsometimesthiscompany’ssecondposition.
Improve the recommendedsectorsif these are possible.The recommendedsectorsare givenbelow:
Leverage of the company indicatesthatBPL usingmore equitycapital thanlongtermdebtcapital,
whichisnot a good signal forthe companybecause itindicateslackingof outsourcing.Consideringthe
comparative companydataBPL is clearlybehindfromthe maincompetitorlike Square inthe contextof
activityratio.
The possible causesof fall of returnonasset,returnon equityratioare risinginthe cost of production,
administration,finance cost.

Bangladesh.The companywasat top three orfour yearsago. Still now ,the companyshowingits
growth.The companycan’t performwell withoutitsinternal performance evaluation.One of the
populartechniquestoevaluatethe performance isratioanalysis.Andi usedthe same techniquesto
evaluate the performance of BPL.BPLisone of the marketleaderandinsome casesmarketleaderinthe
pharmaceuticalsindustryof Bangladesh,Itisgraduallyexpandingitsassetsandable toproperutilize its
assetswell.The overall financialposition of the companymaybe saidto satisfactoryoverthe years.
Since BPL isa good concernof BeximcoGroup,sothe positionmayagainbe improvedif management
becomesmore careful of income andexpenditure,usingof workingcapital.
I had a strong desire togatherpractical knowledgeduringmyin-planttrainingfromBEXIMCO
PharmaceuticalsLtd.isthe leadingpharmaceutical industryinBangladesh.Itscontributionforthe
developmentof national economyiswell known.BEXIMCOPharmahavinga pioneeringrole in
exportingpharmaceuticalsfromBangladesh.The plantlayoutof the Beximcopharma.Ltd.isexcellent
and well organized.Theyhave large areaandtheycan easilyextensionof plantif itisnecessary.
The 2 weeksin-planttraininghelpsustounderstandthe stepsof tabletcoating,methodof granulation,
compression,Liquidfilling,asepticconditionandmuchdifficulttopicsof pharmaceuticals.
Duringin-planttraining,we gotlotsof co-operationfromeverypeople of everysectionandwe
delightedfortheirfriendlyapproach.We satisfiedandproducthave the modernknowledgeand
practical experience fromawell reputedfactorylikeBeximcoPharmaceuticalsLtd.Thispractical
