Editor's Notes
My Mum saw the Beatles play at Adelaide Wayville Showgrounds in 1964
I Raced Home From School to Watch Beatles Cartoons & Mickey Mouse Club On TV
Had 1 Bike, 1 Teddy Bear & 1 Panda Bear As Toys
Remember writing story that Gilligans Island was my fave TV show in Grade 1
Was sent home from school - 1/2 day holiday. Sat in front of my parents TV transfixed
have been to Cape Canaveral in Florida well worth it
PC Power equivalent to a 386 computer
Starsky & Hutch - Long Hair, loved the Mexican Jackets, Big Cars & Remember Huggy Bear !!!!
One Of The 1st records I bought. I went down to Target at Fulham Gardens with pocket money burning a hole in my pocket. I was going to get an album that I can’t remember now & that they didn’t have in any case, so I came home with Band On The Run as well as Quatro – by Suzi Quatro.
Sat there every Sunday night with my little tape recorder and would tape my favourite songs as they would appear. Had 2 younger brothers & sisters so had to tell them to be quiet whilst taping (difficult for a 4 year old to understand)
Another Countdown moment – blasting out of the family TV You Really Got Me. Long Hair, Big Guitars & David Lee Roth’s Swivelling hips – 1977′s version of Elvis. Remember we are in the middle of disco era here, so at the time this had a major impact on me
Time of Rockers (Ripple Sole Shoes) Vs Surfies (Golden Breed Shirts) - Mate of mine wore both so as to not get beaten up. Angels had just changed name from Keystone Angels (Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again) & AC/DC’s mikes didn’t work for the 1st 20 minutes (Analogue)
Going to the Lands Title Office in those days was a bit like going to 1313 Mockingbird Lane. All the Titles were held in large ledger style books. It seemed like when you opened the book you had to blow off the dust & if there was a problem with 1 title they had to take the whole book away
When old State Bank merged with Savings Bank we used to move the digit on the adding machine which stuffed up the old Savings Bankers no end
Used by people such as Icehouse, Kate Bush, Thomas Dolby, Prince, Jan Hammer (Miami Vice Theme)
Used to have this plus a massive Tape Deck (think Ghetto Blaster) as well - dual tape recorder so could tape from one cassette to another
Introduced mid 1980’s - when 1st came out we were told they were indestructible. > 200 bn CD’s have been sold till 2007, sales peaked 2000 & have since halved
Had a Boss at one stage whose motto was - If there isn’t any money in it it’s not worth doing
Georgy “Hows Your Cupboards”
How much is it worth - He told me
My wife Silvia & I were called in on a Sunday to act as “security” when the announcement was made that the Bank had blown up $3 bn. Tim Marcus Clark went AWOL & ended up paying $1.5m back in 1999 (Govt sought $81 mn)
Basically it was give us your $$$ & POQ
Eventually got some PC’s in mid 1990’s. When I got my 1st home PC (686) in late 1990’s had 8 gb hard drive. mate who worked in IT said it was probably bigger than whole Credit Union disk space
Remember trying to download a song via Napster on dial up internet (at least 30 minutes)
When Metallica announced that they were suing Napster I downloaded as many of their tracks as possible

Good time to start a business - didn’t generate any revenue for 1st 3 months
Not many people know that the financial system almost collapsed the night Lehman Bros folded. US Govt Treasury Notes were trading at negative interest rates
