My ultimate career goal is to become a preschool teacher. In order to do this,I am applyingfor a daycare
provider.I found out aboutDiscovery Daycarethrough my mom. She works at Discover Daycareevery morning in
the toddler department. When she comes home she always talks highly aboutit.I have always been interested in
being a daycareprovider sincemy mom use to run her own. I have had a lotof experience working in that kind of
environment as well.
Currently, I am a junior at Marshall High School.I work atthe YMCA as a certified lifeguard,which includes
monitoringpool activities,enforcingsafety guidelines and teachingswimlessons for children between the ages of
five and nine. Additionally,I havebeen babysittingfor the pastfour years. I am also a Sunday school teacher and
help with an afterschool programat FirstLutheran on Wednesdays. Through my work experience, you can see
that I am adaptableand can work with children in different environments.
My work experience has given me the opportunity to develop my skillsin beingpatient,problem solvingand
working with others. Oftentimes, children can bedifficultto work with, but I have learned that with patience I can
effectively communicate with them. Also,I have had the chance to work on how to problem solvewhen working
with children atall differentage groups,ability levels,and energy. As a lifeguard and Sunday school teacher, I have
worked on a team to achieve common goals.
