In this journal article the authors compare the organization structure and market-based capabilities of American and Brazilian Logistics Service Providers in their respective countries. Using the resource based view approach, the authors propose that an LSP’s organization structure influences its service capabilities, which in turn will influence satisfaction and performance. The results indicate that the individual models hold true in their respective countries. Autonomy enhanced LSP’s capabilities in the areas of information sharing, logistics service, and customer service in both models. Formalization improved logistics and customer services in the Brazilian case, but only logistics services in the U.S. case. Unlike the U.S. model, service capabilities did not affect satisfaction for the Brazilian case; satisfaction did not contribute to performance for Brazilians. Paths of the two models are compared as part of the descriptive approach for the study and managerial insights provided.
Germany slightly missed its 2011 budget with revenues of 149 million euros compared to the budgeted 158 million euros. Revenues from hardware were below budget mostly due to underperformance in wireless and iUN products, though this was partially offset by overperformance in the health sector. Revenues from services also fell below budget, especially from processing and acquiring and loyalty solutions. Overall, the gap between actual and budgeted revenues was larger for services than hardware.
Presentation given at User Experience Edmonton meetup in January 2015. Gives an overview of how you can sell User Experience design methodologies to your boss or company. Talks about starting small, return on investment and not asking permission.
The document provides details about BCCL Block II coal mine located in Jharkhand, India. It discusses the mine's history, location, reserves, area, future plans, coal seams, equipment used, and effects of fire and subsidence. The presentation also describes CIMFR's research related to mine fire simulation, flameproof electrical equipment, a coal dust collection and briquetting system, and other environmental projects.
This document discusses design patterns and interaction design patterns. It provides information on what patterns are, their basic elements, examples of patterns, and benefits of using patterns such as creating a common language and making systems easier for users to learn. It also discusses building your own pattern library and considerations around using free online pattern libraries versus creating your own custom library.

The document summarizes a study of mercury pollution in Kodaikkanal Lake in India due to a thermometer factory. Mercury levels were measured in water, sediment, and fish samples from Kodaikkanal Lake and compared to two other nearby lakes. Results found elevated mercury levels in all Kodaikkanal Lake samples, with sediment showing 276-350 mg/kg mercury and fish containing 120-290 mg/kg, even years after the factory closed, indicating mercury persists in the environment.
Development of an innovative 3 stage steady bed gasifier slidesravi8492
The document describes a new 3-stage gasification scheme for municipal solid waste and biomass. The scheme consists of pyrolysis, combustion, and gasification stages, and can operate normally or in reverse mode by adjusting air blowers. It produces synthesis gas free of tars and dioxins with 30% electrical efficiency. A SWOT analysis found strengths include adequate replacement of fossil fuels while weaknesses include unproven reliability and moderate costs.
This training report provides information on the Gevra Mines location, climate, methods of mining, drilling and blasting procedures, soil disposal planning, pumping and drainage systems, power supply, manpower, and civil construction activities. It also discusses the status of air, water, and noise pollution and describes control measures implemented. The report concludes with details on the mine closure plan and restoration activities.
This document discusses carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies which aim to prevent carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel use. It describes three main methods for capturing CO2 - pre-combustion, post-combustion, and oxyfuel combustion. The captured CO2 can be transported via pipeline and stored underground in geological formations or utilized for enhanced oil recovery. CCS has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by 80-90% but also increases energy needs and costs for power plants. There are environmental concerns about the impacts of long-term CO2 storage or leakage.
MEC Alan Winde briefing Visa Laws South Africa 28 July 2015Martin Hatchuel
Western Cape Provincial MEC for Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde, briefed the Western Cape Provincial Parliament on the impact of the visa regulations. The Standing Committee on Economic Opportunities, Tourism and Agriculture had raised concerns around the effect of the laws on the Western Cape’s key sectors and requested a status report from Minister Winde.
Project Khulisa, the Western Cape’s growth strategy, has identified national government's restrictive visa regulations as one of the key challenges to growing the province’s R17 billion tourism sector. Project Khulisa has shown that under a high-growth scenario, the economic contribution of the tourism sector has the potential to increase to up to R28 billion by 2019. Under this same scenario, it could add up to 100 000 formal jobs. Currently, 204 000 residents are employed in the sector.

A Model of Manufacturer-Driven Governing Mechanisms and Distributor PerformanceRuss Merz, Ph.D.
Drawing from relational exchange, dependence, and agency theories the authors explain that it is not only the type of governing mechanisms but also the proper sequencing of them that improves a manufacturer-distributor relationship and performance. Dependence affected relationship continuity positively. Monitoring affected the second order relational norm construct, comprising information sharing and flexibility, positively. Relational norm positively affected relationship continuity. Dependence, relationship continuity, monitoring, and relational norm affected distributor performance positively.
