Continuing Professional Development
This program includes a total of 16 hours of continuing professional development. This is based on
self-directed learning through reading the program manual and completing the online pre-test, and
clinical learning through attendance at the program course days. These days include a range of
didactic and interactive theoretical content presentations, and participation in scenario based
simulations.

 Basic Life Support
 Recognition and management of the deteriorating patient
 Bag-valve mask ventilation and oropharyngeal airway management
 Advanced airway management
 Electrical therapy including manual defibrillation, cardiac monitoring, external pacing and
cardioversion
 ALS algorithm management including pharmacology, patient assessment and reversible causes
 Communication, leadership, and team management
 Post resuscitation care
 Professional, ethical and legal issues
