Alligators are reptiles that lay eggs in nests, and after 9 weeks the babies hatch from the eggs underground. The female alligator helps the babies get to the water and stay close to the mother for protection as they learn to hunt and feed themselves. This completes one life cycle of the alligator from birth through maturity.
