EGI Engage: Impact & Results
The EGI-Engage project ran from 2015-2017 with funding from the European Union to expand federated computing and storage services for researchers. During the project, usage of these services increased substantially, with over 730,000 CPU cores and 650 petabytes of storage used to support over 200 research collaborations, including large projects like CTA and the LHC. The project also helped establish best practices for cloud computing interoperability and contributed to defining the European Open Science Cloud.

2nd e-ROSA Stakeholder workshop: Hologne, E-ROSA process
The e-ROSA project received EU funding to develop a roadmap for an e-infrastructure to support open science in agriculture. It held a stakeholder workshop where participants discussed challenges around increasing data volumes in agri-food sciences from various sources, issues with data sharing between public and private sectors, and how e-infrastructure could help address needs by improving data access, processing, and preservation while supporting open science practices and community engagement. Key topics for the roadmap included e-infrastructure governance models and identifying technical and scientific services to articulate user needs and facilitate research.
VASCO
1) GAUSSIN and BA Systèmes are developing automated robots and vehicles for future ports as part of the French "Investments for the Future" program, which is providing €8.8 million total for the project.
2) The project, called VASCO, aims to create the first fully automated system without any infrastructure needed for transferring containers between port terminals using 3 automated vehicles.
3) The universities of Lille and Nantes will work on automating and guiding the vehicles as well as supervising the system, while GAUSSIN and BA Systèmes will build a demonstration fleet and power exchange system to be tested starting in 2017.

The goal of the Events portal is to facilitate the description, collection, integration and visualisation of events distributed across ELIXIR and other life science organisations. The Events portal reuses existing platform like iAnn and improves the strategy for automated integration of events. The Events portal reuses existing platform like iAnn and improves the strategy for automated integration of events. Events Organisation site Y Script Script Events Organisation site X Events Community portal Website 1 Website 2 Website 3... Users from different organisations create events in their own sites. Websites use schema.org and the BioSchemas specification facilitating common description of events metadata. Python Script scrapes schema.org makeup data from the Website and imports the data to Solr Index. Python Script synchronises events into two SOLR servers. Widget are used to help third party websites to visualised events from iAnn. IAnn is an event sharing platform for the life sciences. IAnn provides web services to let powerful and flexible queries using the Solr query syntax. Solr is an open source search platform we use to index and integrate events information. The Events portal is made for users to post events which are not yet BioSchemas compliant. Anybody can access it and advertise their own events.
